Itinerary
This exclusive tour takes you from Hanoi to the natural wonders of Northwestern Vietnam, including Ba Be Lake and Ban Gioc Waterfall. Ba Be Lake is famous for its 50-hectare freshwater expanse, situated 145 meters above sea level, formed by the confluence of three river tributaries after earthquakes tens of millions of years ago. Ban Gioc, the world’s fourth-largest cross-border waterfall, captivates visitors with its breathtaking scenery of blue skies, towering limestone mountains, lush rice fields, and glimpses of local daily life. Whether you continue with other Vietnam package tours or return home, this discovery tour promises lasting impressions and unforgettable moments.

day 2 - Day 2: Ba Be – Cao Bang – Ban Gioc (B/L/D)
8:00 a.m: After breakfast, depart for Cao Bang (110 km). Upon arrival, visit Phuoc Sen Village of the Nung people, a small village famous for producing farming tools. The Nung population is estimated at over 700,000, primarily residing in Bac Giang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, and Tuyen Quang provinces.
The Nung people sustain themselves through agriculture, farming on terraced hillsides, tending rice paddies, and growing orchard products such as rice, maize, tangerines, persimmons, and anise. They are also known for their handicrafts, making items from bamboo and rattan, as well as weaving, carpentry, and iron forging.
On the way, visit Thang Hen Lake, located in Quoc Toan Commune, Tra Linh District. At an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level, Thang Hen Lake is one of 36 beautiful mountain lakes in Vietnam. The surrounding mountains feature rows of trees rising from steep cliffs, reflected in the pristine waters, creating stunning scenery.
12:30 p.m: Lunch at Quang Yen.
1:30 p.m: Continue the transfer to Ban Gioc Waterfall (85 km).
3:30 p.m: Arrive at Ban Gioc Waterfall, take photos, and enjoy one of Vietnam’s most spectacular waterfalls. You can also rent a bamboo boat to explore the river.
In this area, visit Phat Tich Truc Lam Bam Gioc Pagoda, the first pagoda on the border, which overlooks Ban Gioc Waterfall in one direction and leans against Phia Nham Mountain. You can also explore Nguom Ngao Grotto, nearly 2,100 meters long and 60 meters high in some sections. Its name, “tiger cave,” comes from the local Tay legend that tigers once sheltered in the cave and frequently attacked nearby villages. Inside, visitors can experience a chilling atmosphere while admiring stalactites shaped like humans, trees, mythical animals, lotus sprouts, and pillars.
6:00 p.m: Check in at Saigon-Ban Gioc Resort, the first four-star hotel in the Ban Gioc Waterfall area. Covering more than 31 hectares, this resort offers stunning views of one of Asia’s most magnificent waterfalls.
