day 1 - Athens (arrival)
Welcome to Greece! Upon arrival in Athens, you will be met by our company representative and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure. You may relax and catch up on your jet lag or go out on your own and explore this city which never sleeps! You may optionally visit Syntagma Square and immerse yourself into the vibe of the city or enjoy shopping in one of the most popular streets in the Kolonaki area or Ermou, and head on a nice, quiet walk through the beautiful alleys of Plaka (the old district) where you may also find a big number of small shops selling souvenirs and other local artifacts.

Optional: Athens tour and the New Acropolis Museum This tour starts with a short stop to Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896. Continue with a panoramic drive passing by ex Royal Palace, Zappion Hall, Roman Temple of Olympian Zeus, National Temple of Hadrian Arch, St. Paul’s church, Tomp of the Unknown Soldier, Schliemann’s House, Catholic Cathedral, academy, University and National Library. Make our way to the archaeological site of Acropolis, an UNESCO’s world heritage monument and visit Propylae, Temple of Athena Nike, Erechtheion with its porch of Maidens and of course the Parthenon. Continue with a pleasant short walk passing by herodion and Dionysus Theatre, in order to visit the Acropolis Museum. Main attractions such as votines, artefacts of every day life, statues from archaic period, Caryatids, and of course the Parthenon hall with the metopes, the pediments and the frieze will impress you.
day 2 - Athens
After early morning breakfast, begin your half-day city tour of Athens. Start your tour with a visit to the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympic Games of modern times were held in 1896. Continue your journey driving past the Prime Minister's Residence (ex Royal Palace) guarded by the Euzones in their colorful uniforms, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian's Arch, the Parliament, and the memorial to the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, and the Constitution Square (Syntagma). Your tour will continue to the Acropolis where you will see the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: discover The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion, and finally, \"the harmony between material and spirit\", the monument that \"puts an order in the mind\", the Parthenon. Visit the place where the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era in The New Acropolis Museum (due to certain restrictions for the visiting hours of the new Acropolis Museum, the order of the program can be changed). Return to your hotel by lunchtime.

Optional: Athens Temple of Poseidon and Cape Sounion The 30 minute trip is enchanting, with images full of nature and pine-trees. The Temple of Poseidon awaits you, dedicated to the god of the sea. This is the southernmost and highest point of the cape and the monument looks like it is washed by the Aegean on all sides. The construction of the Temple was initially commenced at the beginning of the 5th century B.C. Yet, it was destroyed by the Persians during the Persian Wars and so the Athenians built, in 444 B.C., the newer Temple, parts of which are preserved until today. The Temple is of Doric order and bore a frieze with relief decoration while it was also adorned by immense statues called Kouroi.The archaeological site of Sounion, apart from the Sanctuaries of Poseidon and Athena, includes the fortress, a small settlement from the Hellenistic era, the propylaea (entrance gateway) and the porticoes.
day 4 - Athens – Lavrion (embarkation) – Mykonos
Today you will be transferred to the port in Lavrion for a cruise that will take you out into the Aegean Sea to the beautiful island of Mykonos in the Cyclades also known as the Island of the Winds. Take an evening stroll through the atmospheric Old Town with its immaculate whitewashed houses, winding alleys, lovely little churches, and delightful restaurants at the water’s edge. You will undoubtedly recognize the picture postcard white windmills sitting side by side, overlooking the sea.

Optional: Mykonian countryside tour with Hora and Little Venice This tour encompasses the best of Mykonos outside its main city. Drive around the island to get a glimpse into its beaches such as Ornos (one of the most family-friendly on the island), St Anna (protected by two hills called Aphrodite's breasts}, and Kalafatis (a paradise for water sports and windsurfing). Stop briefly at each of these natural splendors for photos. Leave the seashore and drive inland to Ano Mera, a village that remains one of the rare unspoiled parts of the island. Home to the Panagia Tourliani Monastery from the 16th century, the village unfolds around its impressive bell tower and marble fountain. Coming back to Chora go for a short stop to Panagia Paraportiani, the iconic 15th-century Byzantine church. Conclude your bus tour at the picturesque Little Venice -- the perfect spot for a cocktail on the sea.
day 5 - Kusadasi – Patmos
We arrive in the colorful Turkish beach town of Kusadasi in the morning. This is the coastal gateway to the Hellenistic ruins of Ephesus, famed for one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Temple of Artemis. Patmos, one of the northernmost and smallest islands in the Dodecanese has a charm all of its own. It is most famous for being where the Book of Revelations was written, and the location of John the Baptist’s vision, which is detailed in the text

Optional: House of Virgin Mary and Ancient Ephesus One of the largest open-air museums in the world, the ancient city of Ephesus is home to impressive architectural treasures from the Greek, Roman and Hellenistic periods. Join a half-day tour to delve back through the centuries, visit the House of the Virgin Mary and shop for souvenirs in the sprawling Kusadasi bazaar. You'll travel into the olive grove hills around Kusadasi to the House of the Virgin Mary, an important pilgrimage site where the Virgin Mary lived the last few years of her life. Then on to the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the most incredible open-air archaeological sites and museums in the world. Admire ancient relics such as the Library of Celsus, the Odeon, marble-paved streets, baths, the Magnesia Gate and the Great Theater amongst many others. Optional: Half Day ancient Ephesus & the Terrace Houses Every step we take in Ancient Ephesus brings us closer to the Hellenistic, Roman and early Christian eras. We will enjoy a truly exceptional experience in one of the most important and complete classical cities in Europe, even though only a fraction of it has been uncovered. We pass through the Magnesian Gate and wander through the Agora, Odeon, the magnificent and restored Library of Celsus, the marble-paved Main Street of Curetes, Baths of Scholastica, The Great Theatre, Trajan’s Fountain, the Houses of the Patricians, Prytaneum and the Temple of Hadrian. Opposite Hadrian’s Temple, at the foot of the Bulbul Hill and the covered part of the archaeological site, protected from heat and natural elements, lie the Houses of Koressus or Terrace Houses. It was here that the wealthy families of Ancient Ephesus lived. These villas are excellently preserved especially the interior decor. The oldest houses so far unearthed date from the 1st Century BC, were built on two stories and even had hot and cold water and a heating system, clay pipes under the floor. They were even constructed to a city plan in which roads intersected with each other at right angles. Ephesus, which became the second largest city in the Roman Empire, was dedicated to the goddess Artemis and the magnificent temple built to honour her took 120 years to complete. Optional: Ancient Ephesus through the ages - Hellenistic and Roman times This is a wonderful journey through some of the most important and formative periods of history and we hope you will be enthralled by the stories of the Hellenes, Romans and of Christianity in our fascinating exploration of Ephesus. This marvelous city, sitting on the hills outside Kusadasi is a fabulous open-air archaeological wonder founded by the Greeks around 2000 BC. It was one of the most important cities of the region and was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. The Temple built in her honor was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It had more than 100 marble pillars each standing 56 feet tall and it earned the city the name ‘Servant of the Goddess.’ A single pillar remains standing on the site, found during an excavation in the 1870s. We will be able to see the Agora, Odeon, the Library of Celsus, the marvel-paved Main Street of Curetes, the Baths of Scholastica, Trajan’s Fountain, the Temple of Hadrian and the Houses of Koressus, where the wealthy families of Ancient Ephesus lived. Only 13 percent of Ephesus has so far been uncovered. The finds from the excavations made so far are housed in the Archaeological Museum of Ephesus in the city of Selcuk.
day 6 - Heraklion (crete) – Santorini
Welcome to Crete, Greece’s largest island, a place of mystery, myths, and legends. There’s the chance to take in the bustling city of Heraklion and some of Crete’s extraordinary archaeology and history. You can learn more about the art and creativity of the Minoans. Our odyssey continues as we spend an evening in Santorini, whose stunning face is instantly recognizable across the world. We’re sure she will take your breath away, with her soaring landscapes, clusters of whitewashed houses in the capital, Fira, and, of course, the iconic blue-domed church at Oia. Don’t forget to try one of the many restaurants jostling for position at the edge of the caldera.
