About Yangyang

Write a review
My name is Yangyang Li, and I grew up in China. From a young age, I was captivated by exploration and the thrill of discovering new places. This passion naturally led me to a career in the adventure tourism industry, where I’ve spent the past 10 years designing and guiding immersive experiences across the globe—in France and Indonesia. I am deeply passionate about outdoor adventures, whether trekking through remote mountains, hiking hidden trails, or discovering pristine islands and cultural landscapes off the beaten path. For me, travel is not just about visiting new places—it’s about connecting with nature, embracing challenges, and sharing truly unforgettable experiences with others. Now based in Tokyo, I continue to create adventure travel experiences that push boundaries, spark curiosity, and allow travelers to fully immerse themselves in the landscapes and cultures they explore. My greatest motivation comes from witnessing the joy, growth, and transformation that adventure brings to people’s lives.

Yangyang's Expertise

I specialize in outdoor adventure and cultural experiences around the world. My adventures have taken me hiking in the Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal, trekking the Tour du Mont Blanc in France, and walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. In Indonesia, I’ve explored Kawah Ijen and Batur volcanoes, trekked through the jungles of Sulawesi and Kalimantan to meet orangutans and long-nosed monkeys, and enjoyed snorkeling and free diving in pristine waters. Since settling in Tokyo, I’ve immersed myself in Japan’s natural playground. I’ve hiked iconic routes such as the Kumano Kodo, Nisendo, and Shinpi trails in Kamikochi, tackled challenging mountain trails across the Japanese Alps, rafted in the rivers of Nikko, surfed the waves in Kamakura, and explored hidden valleys and waterfalls off the beaten path. I love sharing these adventures with travelers who want to experience Japan actively, combining adrenaline, nature, and breathtaking scenery. Alongside adventure, I also enjoy introducing travelers to Japan’s rich culture—visiting historical sites, traditional villages, and modern art spaces like teamLab—creating trips that blend outdoor exploration with immersive cultural experiences.

Best Travel Experience

Since settling in Japan, one of my most memorable experiences was a multi-day trip to Nikko. Many travelers usually visit Nikko for just one day from Tokyo and don’t realize that the area offers so many beautiful and interesting things to do. I explored the famous marshland trails in the national park, passing by Kegon Falls and several other stunning waterfalls along the way. The hike itself wasn’t particularly difficult, but it offered breathtaking views, especially in autumn when the leaves turn vibrant shades of red—truly a magical display of Japan’s natural beauty. After the hike, we enjoyed an exhilarating rafting adventure on the Kinugawa River, complete with thrilling jumps and playful rapids that made the experience both fun and adrenaline-filled. To end the trip perfectly, we relaxed at a private onsen, soaking in the hot spring waters while reflecting on the incredible natural scenery and adventures of the day. This trip perfectly captures the hidden side of Nikko, offering a balance of adventure, nature, and relaxation that most one-day visitors never get to experience.

Why is Yangyang the right travel expert?

Choose me as your local travel expert, and I’ll take you beyond the usual tourist trails to experience the Japan few visitors truly see. With over 10 years of adventure travel experience around the world—in France, Indonesia, and beyond—I now explore Japan with the same curiosity and passion, revealing its hidden mountains, rivers, and cultural treasures. Imagine hiking through the crimson forests of the marshlands in autumn, passing waterfalls, and feeling the crisp mountain air as leaves turn red and gold. Picture rafting down the wild currents of the rivers, laughing with friends as you leap into the rapids, then winding down in a secluded private onsen, soaking in warm waters while reflecting on the day’s adventure. Or trekking the remote trails of Kamikochi’s mountains, discovering hidden valleys and serene landscapes off the beaten path. I love blending these adventures with Japan’s rich culture—exploring historic shrines, ancient villages, and contemporary art spaces like teamLab—to create experiences that are both thrilling and deeply immersive. I know how to reveal the side of Japan that most one-day visitors never get to see, crafting journeys that combine adrenaline, nature, and culture in ways that leave travelers inspired, amazed, and connected. With me, every trip is more than sightseeing—it’s a story you live, a challenge you embrace, and a memory you’ll never forget.
