It's pretty much exactly as described. This trip is all about the highlights of these countries. You're not seeing much off the beaten track, but you are going with a very experienced guide who knows the areas and their history like the back of their hand.
The trip was pretty fast paced but we had a couple of days in between to relax and enjoy areas at our own pace. My friend who joined me on the tour and I had an absolute blast. We're both 25 and the youngest in the group by approximately 30 years, but by the end it made no difference at all and we all got on very well.
Honestly, a great first experience of Southeast Asia, we stayed in beautiful accommodation, everything went so smoothly and nothing went wrong. Loved it.
A highly enjoyable trip that is superior to other offerings. The most distinct advantage of this tour is walking through Vietnam in a comfortable manner and pace. The tour explores villages in Vietnam that highlight both the rural life and natural beauty in various parts of Vietnam (North, Central, South). The second part of the tour that covers Cambodia adds a cultural element to the entire trip that is somewhat lacking in Vietnam. The entire experience is enhanced by small group sizes.
Set out on an unforgettable journey through Vietnam and Cambodia with the Family Discovery Vietnam and Angkor Wat Extension tour. Over 15 days, this art and architecture-focused trip is perfect for travelers eager to experience the best of both countries, blending vibrant cities, rich traditions, and breathtaking scenery.
Begin in Hanoi, Vietnam’s bustling capital, where the maze-like Old Quarter and French colonial facades offer endless intrigue. Cruise through the towering limestone formations of Halong Bay by kayak, and continue on to the historic charm of Hoi An, a riverside town known for its lantern-lit streets and centuries-old architecture. Experience daily life firsthand with a homestay in the Mekong Delta, where you’ll learn the secrets of Vietnamese cooking and master Kinh Van martial arts.
Travel south to Ho Chi Minh City, discovering hidden underground bunkers and the lively backstreets of old Saigon. An overnight train journey adds a dash of adventure, while a traditional junk boat stay offers a peaceful respite on the water.
The adventure doesn’t stop at the border—your trip culminates in Cambodia’s awe-inspiring Angkor Wat, where stunning temples rise from the jungle, and in Phnom Penh, whose vibrant riverfront pulses with energy and history.
With an easy activity level and a thoughtfully paced itinerary, this tour is accessible for a wide range of travelers. Accommodation, transport, and meals are all included for a worry-free journey.
The unique highlight of this tour package is the immersive blend of urban and rural experiences—letting you not only see, but truly participate in the daily rhythms and traditions of Vietnam and Cambodia. For those seeking a culturally rich adventure, this tour delivers memorable moments across two incredible lands.
The hotels were amazing but the trip was so full on there was no time to appreciate them. Also 18 Wats in 3 days was too much. Tour Guide very knowledgeable and fun. Really enjoyed it all but I think it could have been broken up a bit better, not so many long days and a break from WATs. I would recommend
A well designed itinerary made for a good introduction to Indochina. The biggest problem was never having quite enough time everywhere to do everything you wanted.
Our tour guide Poy was fantastic! She was very organized, knowledgeable and helpful. She stayed with us all the way to the return airport to make sure we got all the assistance needed.
The last tour night in Bangkok the Kantary hotel was marginal at best. Very musty odor like mold. The area was not near any decent shopping or eating. You may want to consider a different hotel.
Very good trip. In Siam Riep, it would have been good to have some free time and maybe some trips other than to temples (e.g. land mine rats). Otherwise, a very good trip overall.
