Siem Reap - Get lost among the jungle-clad temples of the famous Angkor complex.
Phnom Penh - Discover the history of the Khmer Rouge and tuck in to delicious street food.
Chi Phat - Cruise along jungle-lined rivers and stay in a community-based village of the Cardamom Mountains.
Beyond the Angkor temples lies a Cambodia few travelers ever see. The Heart of Cambodia tour is a 13-day active adventure that takes you from Siem Reap’s world-renowned ruins to the hidden gems and authentic rhythms of rural life. Ideal for experienced explorers seeking culture, nature, and genuine connections, this journey reveals the country’s true spirit.
Begin by wandering through the jungle-shrouded temples of Angkor, where ancient artistry and mystery abound. In Phnom Penh, delve into Cambodia’s modern history and savor street food delights in a city where French colonial charm meets resilience.
The trip’s unique highlight is an immersive stay in Chi Phat, a community-based village in the Cardamom Mountains. Cruise along jungle-lined rivers, sleep in local homestays, and experience conservation efforts firsthand—an opportunity rarely found on standard tours.
Cruising the Mekong, relaxing on pristine, uncrowded beaches, and exploring floating villages offer a vivid portrait of Cambodia’s natural beauty and everyday life. With an easy activity level, accommodation, transport, and meals included, this tour balances comfort and adventure.
What sets this trip apart is its focus on authentic cultural exchange and lesser-known destinations—making it the perfect choice for travelers who want to go beyond the guidebooks and experience the real Cambodia.
The spectacular trip was completely enhanced by our most excellent guide The hotels, home stays and itineraries were all superb
A well balanced, fascinating trip. An excellent tour leader, Try,, who went above and beyond on several occasions. There was lots of variety. Whilst not a negative comment, I suggest that the sunrise boat trip on the Piphot River could be shortened - the boats are uncomfortable, and there is an insufficient variety of things to see to justify the five hour round trip.
Quite full-on, you need to be active but a few “rest” days too. Our guide, Try, was available 24/7 and full of information and advice and a great sense of humour. He took great care of us. Also enjoyed, Borin, our guide for Angkor Wat.
Everything went very smoothly. The leader, Tre, was always organised and knowledgeable about the different visits. His English was a little difficult to understand at times but he was very attentive and helpful when there was a personal issue. No faults to raise.
