Bhutan is the last of the Himalayan kingdoms. Nestled between China and India, the country has found a perfect balance between preserving its rich tradition and its march towards sustainable development to create what could be considered a modern Shangri-la. Our week-long tour will take you across Bhutan to see this inspiring mix of culture, nature and modernity.
Our Last Shangri-la Tour begins with sightseeing in the country’s capital, Thimphu, where we visit landmarks such as the Memorial Chhorten, mini- zoo, National Institute of Traditional Medicine, folk heritage museum and the majestic Tashichho Dzong.
Next, we travel to Punakha via Dochu La pass (3,100 m) and visit the Chimi Lhakhang temple along the way. We will also visit the Punakha Dzong and explore the amazing Gangtey village before heading to Paro.
In the beautiful Paro valley, we visit Rinpung Dzong and Kichu Lhakhang temple. Our tour ends with a hike to the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery, which is a perfect way to end one's journey in the last Shangri-La.

The Trek was excellent - the scenery was fantastic with the clear weather in mid-October. The trekking was sometimes challenging, but never too hard for fairly fit "almost-60-year-olds". The views of Everest and its surrounding peaks, especially from Tengboche Monastery, were fantastic. If you don't feel the need, or have the time, to go all the way to Everest Base Camp, this is the trek to take!
We went to Gosaikunda in the monsoon but still got visibility of the lake. On the way up and down the view was obscured by clouds but I have uploaded some photos of the views we were able to see.

Trekking to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal with guide Mingma Sherpa was an unforgettable experience that I will cherish for a lifetime. The trek was challenging yet incredibly rewarding, offering stunning views of the majestic Annapurna mountain range and providing a glimpse into the unique culture and way of life of the local Sherpa community.
From the moment I met Mingma Sherpa, I knew I was in good hands. His expertise and knowledge of the region were evident from the start, and his warm and friendly demeanor made the trek even more enjoyable. Mingma's passion for the mountains and dedication to ensuring the safety and comfort of his clients were truly commendable.
The trek itself was a test of physical endurance, as we navigated steep and rugged terrain, crossed suspension bridges over roaring rivers, and ascended to high altitudes. Absolutely loved this trek! I did it in January with a friend and honestly thought it was amazing. Even though it was their winter, it meant that the trek was less busy, the days were warm and the local operator provided us with a warm sleeping bag and down jacket. Our tour guide and the business owner were great. They did so much to ensure that my friend and I had the best and most seamless trip. Thanks! Can't wait to try out our next tour/trek with you.

PRIVATE TOUR: Come to the Kingdom of Bhutan! Nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, Bhutan has for centuries remained cautiously aloof from the rest of the world. With incredible scenery, impressive architectural feats including that of Tigers Nest Monastery and hospitable charm has been revealed to travellers hungry for new experiences.
Although I wanted something off the beaten path, I worried this route might not be challenging enough. But I instantly realized this would be a worthy adventure with the warmest hospitality.
The trails are generally good, but you should know that the whole trip is generally straight up and down. Make sure you have walking sticks and if youre not used to hiking for several days with a pack you should consider hire a porter to carry your pack.
We booked the 7 days Everest View Trek during the time of pandemic and could not be happier with the experience. Our Guide Mr. Pasang met came to pick us up from the airport and everything went fantastic from there. The Hotel provided in Kathmandu was amazing it was near a major Buddhist Temple called boudhanath stupa felt like living in a traditional heritage site hotel. Next early morning we took flight to Lukla orgainzed by the company. As soon as we arrived Lukla i feel very amazing seeing those breath taking landmarks and himalays. We are gald that the trip was well organized by Pasang and took extra care of us our return. He even invited me to his home for dinner (perhaps an advantage of being the only one on the trek during this off season).
