Itinerary
Searching for a Himalayan escape that’s both scenic and accessible? The Ghorepani Poonhill Trek delivers big mountain views and a taste of local culture in just seven days, making it a favorite among young adults and experienced trekkers alike. This moderately paced trekking trip leads you through Nepal’s famed rhododendron forests, charming villages, and up to the renowned Poonhill viewpoint.
From the summit of Poonhill at sunrise, witness a breathtaking panorama of the Annapurna Range—including Annapurna I, II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Hiunchuli—bathed in golden light. The route also offers glimpses of the striking Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak) and the distant Mt. Manaslu and Lamjung Himal.
Along the trail, immerse yourself in the hospitality and traditions of local communities, enriching the journey with cultural insights. The trek’s standout feature is its ability to pack incredible scenery and authentic village experiences into a short, manageable itinerary, making it perfect for those with limited time but boundless curiosity.
day 1 - Drive to Pokhara in a tourist bus
In the morning, your trek guide comes at the hotel to take you to the bus to Pokhara. Pokhara is also called a city of lakes which has Phewa lake, Begnas Lake, Rupa Lake and more. It also offers the panoramic view of Fishtail Peak (Machhapucharre 6,993m), Annapurna (8,091m), Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Manaslu (8,156m), and Lamjung Himal.
day 2 - Drive to Birethanti & Trek to Ulleri (2,000 m)
On this day, we head out of Pokhara in a private vehicle. After two hours drive, we reach Birethanti (1,039 m/3,409 ft). After a couple of hour's hike, we reach Hile (1,495 m/4,905 ft), a large village with many shops and teahouses.
From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. The route declines somewhat at first as you continue your journey from Hile. But soon after, you must trek a long, arduous ascent uphill before reaching Ulleri.
day 3 - Trek to Ghorepani (2,840m)
The trail ascends more gently from Ulleri towards Banthanti at 2,250m which offers a stunning view of Annapurna South (7,219m). You pass through the rhododendron and oak trees before you reach Ghorepani.
day 4 - Trek to Poonhill (3,210m) and Trek to Tadapani (2,170m)
In the early morning, trek to Poon Hill (3,210m) to see an excellent view of Annapurna I, ( 8,091 m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525 m), Gangapurna (7,455 m), and Annapurna South (7,219m) and the unobstructed view of the sunrise. Spend at least 1 hour on Poonhill and then trek to Ghorepani and Tadapani (2,170m), passing through the pine and rhododendron forest, and Deurali and Banthanti villages.
day 5 - Trek to Ghandruk (1,940m)
From Tadapani, you descend through the forest to Ghandruk, a village of the Gurung people, and this village offers the view of Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna II (7,937m), Annapurna III (7.555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Gangapurna (7,455m), Annapurna South (7,219m), and Machapucharre (6,993m).
day 6 - Trek to Syauli Bazaar (1,170m). Drive to Pokhara
Today, the trek begins along the agricultural terrace farms and stone-paved pathways. Reaching Syauli Bazaar marks the end of our trek. Then a couple of hour drive will take us back to Pokhara.
day 7 - Drive to Kathmandu in a tourist bus
We will be driving back to Kathmandu in the morning. In the evening, we host a farewell dinner in a fine restaurant accompanied by your guide and/or office staff.
If you are interested in extending the trip, there are many options such as the Chitwan jungle safari, river rafting adventure, Kathmandu shopping tour, mountain biking, and other activities.

Great services perfect trip
I absolutely loved this entire trip. Every turn was a picture post card view, the people, food and surroundings were phenomenal, met all my expectations. The climb was demanding, but worth every step. The tour operator met every need and expectation and their support lead to an awesome trip.
A great experience
Loved the whole trip in spite of my hiking buddy becoming quite ill, meaning a rather slow trek. The organisation was superb, our guide, Bhim, friendly and accommodating, the scenery spectacular and the trek exciting at times as we crossed recent avalanches and shared the swaying bridges with frisky, stubborn goats. An amazing experience of a lifetime.
