I don’t know where to begin…. We had the most amazing time on the tour. We had a fantastic guide with the right blend of historical facts, archaeological information and humour. Our driver was brilliant kept the van clean, cool and kept us safe and on time. Was gutted to leave. All the temple sites are worth the wait. Looking forwarding to planning another trip to Mexico to see more. Thanks again for all the team and the amazing memories
We did a little of everything trip was not rushed and the tour guide was excellent. We visited ruins and had a great interpedation we swam in the river at the waterfalls had a boat trip with lots of birds. The cooking school was fun and educational and snorkelling and visiting the island was amazing. Tour group was the right size.

Great trip. Full on pace, would have to skip activities to slow down! A cultural and nature trip. Guatemala was my favourite country; the Mayan history and culture. The archeological site at Copan adds to the diversity of experiences on this trip. As well the more recent history of regime change in Nicaragua. The Spanish colonial architecture was highlighted at all destinations, quaint hotels. Nature’s beauty and wild life was showcased throughout. Overall, a diversity of experiences filled the two weeks!

An excellent way to explore Central America on two wheels—what a ride! I loved every segment of the tour. Just a heads-up: you’ll need more than basic cycling skills… and a truckload of grit. Some of the dirt roads, especially the downhills, are the kind that make you suddenly remember every loved one you’ve ever had. Definitely not for the faint-hearted.
About the hotels: a few of the one-night stays were… let’s say “character-building.” The stop in Turrialba in particular did not meet even basic standards. Explore, you can do better—please save future cyclists from that experience.
Now, about our tour leader, Mike. After ~15 tours across ~20 countries, I’ve finally had a tour led by a real pro athlete. And wow—what a difference. Mike’s professionalism, enthusiasm, ocean-level patience, and that trademark toothy smile made even the toughest (undualating😄)climbs feel manageable. He set the bar so high that my future tours may need oxygen just to reach it.
Absolutely recommended. And if you’re lucky enough to get Mike, prepare to have your expectations ruined—in the best possible way.

This was my 22nd Explore trip and one of the best in recent years. This was largely due to the excellent leader (Wilfred) and the group itself. The itinerary sadly had to be altered (and options removed) due to a combination of heavy rain and other factors but what remained was still a full and interesting and varied trip. Shame not to be able to reach Crooked Tree, nor see more animals and birds, but these are not Explore's fault. Kayaking was not on offer, nor tubing which had been highly recommended to me but that may never have been an official option. The accommodation was great except that at Placencia (Sea Spray hotel?) the bathroom was really too tight for me. Wilf in particular deserves a very special mention - not only was he reliable, knowledgable, funny and charming he went out of his way to help on more that one occasion all during a very difficult week for him personally dealing with a family bereavement and his own illness near the end of the holiday.
I led the tribute to him on the last night, sung to the tune of 'Mamma Mia':
We’ve been travelling with you since I don’t know when
Sadly now it is time it must come to an end
Where will we go? We dont have a clue
What to do now ? - that you’re suddenly not right here
Sending menus and choosing beer
On day one
- you explain everything
From then on
- we forget everything
Whoa
Brother Wilfred. Now we’re off again
Who knows - where we’ll be without you
Brother Wilfred - we’ll be lost again
Back home - we’ll be thinking ‘bout you
Yes we’ll be broken hearted
blue - Now that we have parted
Why why did we ever let you go?
Brother Wilfred - have a great next trip
Bye bye - we will really miss you so

I had recently completed the Viva Mexico tour that departed on 20th July and was led by the awesome Vitor.
The tour was awesome from day 1 and well organized and run with the perfect mix of culture and relax time. The group was great and I was fully able to enjoy my time in Mexico.

What a great and varied trip this was, much more than I was expecting. This isn’t just a tour of stunning ruins, but also more surprising things like Sumidero canyon. Our tour guide Luis Flores was fantastic - patient, organized, funny and amazing recommendations for food.
The tour wasn’t as full on as it appeared in the reviews. Yes there was a lot of driving, but in most locations we stayed 3-4 nights. The hotel in Flores was stunning, with rooms looking directly over the lake.

This is a varied and interesting tour with many unexpected cultural experiences.
Ana Davila is an excellent tour leader who brings the archaeological sites, history and her culture to life.
Mexico, Belize and Guatemala all have their own characters and it was interesting to see these differences.
A fascinating and highly enjoyable tour.
