This San Francisco tour to Yosemite National Park is jam-packed with the towering granite monuments of Half Dome, Cathedral Peak and El Capitan, all forged by dramatic Mesozoic Era geology. You will see Bridalveil Fall, Horsetail and Yosemite Falls put on impressive water displays. Unlike other Yosemite tours, you can enjoy nature hikes in Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias and on the Meadow Loop Trail to the Swinging Bridge.
Your Yosemite and Giant Sequoias Tour begins with a convenient pickup in at your downtown hotel, then heads east out of San Francisco to Yosemite, crossing through California’s fertile San Joaquin Valley before climbing into the rocky Sierra Nevada mountains. Relax as you learn the colorful gold rush history of the region. The tour pauses half-way to Yosemite to stretch your legs and grab refreshments.
Soon after finishing the trip to Yosemite National Park from San Francisco, you will experience the quiet solitude of the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias. You will not doubt for a second that these Yosemite trees are the largest living creatures on the planet. No picture does them justice, but that should not keep you from trying!
In winter, when conditions on the Tuolumne Grove trail are snow-covered or unsafe, we substitute this experience with other attractions. See our Yosemite National Park Winter Tour from San Francisco.
Your heart will be racing as we head down into Yosemite Valley and make the next stop at Inspiration Point, a view of the valley made famous by Ansel Adams and hundreds of artists since. Take a moment and then some selfies with El Capitan, Half Dome, Sentinel Dome, Glacier Point, Cathedral Peak and Bridalveil Fall as your backdrop.
Once we reach the floor of Yosemite Valley, you will have a couple of hours of free time to grab a quick picnic lunch. Then, check out the Ansel Adams Gallery or the Yosemite Valley Wilderness Center in Yosemite Village. Both are great spots to pick up some souvenirs and gifts for friends back home.
Besides giant trees, Yosemite Valley is home to more than 400 types of species of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. In Spring, wildflowers blanket the valley floor. The Lower Yosemite Falls, Mist and Meadow Loop trailheads are all near to Yosemite Valley Lodge. Each is guaranteed to delight hikers of any age.
After re-boarding your tour vehicle, you day has more highlights. The tour makes a photo stop at El Capitan Meadow where you can get straight on view of the Yosemite icon, an impressive vantage point for Cathedral Rocks, and, if the season is right, Horsetail Fall which produces the famous “firefall” in late-February.
Your Yosemite experience ends on a high note at Valley View. This spot serves up a view along the banks of the Merced River framed by El Capitan and the imposing spires of Cathedral Rocks. This is a great spot for your “saying goodbye” selfie.
Departing from Fisherman’s Wharf we ride along the vibrant Pier 39, up to Russian Hill and Nob Hill with its
magnificent Grace Cathedral. Enjoy the great views down the steep roads of California Street which is climbed by the famous San Francisco Cable Cars. The tour continues through Chinatown and the Financial District through some of the modern high-rises.
Cross the impressive Bay Bridge which displays a spectacular art installation of lights in the evening, San Francisco’s most sparkling light sculpture. From Treasure Island - a little stretch of land between San Francisco and Oakland – you will have breathtaking views of the city’s skyline. On the way back enjoy the fresh breeze along the waterfront, passing the Ferry Building and another spectacular view of the Bay Bridge before returning to Fisherman’s Wharf.
Your English-speaking tour guide will make sure that you will have an exciting and fun time during the tour while you can soak in the wonderful sights of San Francisco.

The tour departs from Fisherman's Wharf with a knowledgeable tour guide on board the bus. On the way out to Muir Woods, you will cross the iconic Golden Gate Bridge with breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz Island. Continue along the Pacific Coast Highway, providing stunning views of the coastal mountains before heading further to Muir Woods National Monument. Relax in your comfortable seat and enjoy the beautiful scenery while your tour guide shares fun and informative facts along the way.
Muir Woods is home to the Coast Redwoods, some of the tallest trees in the world, and it is the last remaining
stands of Old Growth Forest, sustained by the temperate marine fog. With maps in hand, take a walk through the spectacular woods and take in all of its natural beauty. There are a number of paved walking trails that take you close to the magnificent giants, or you can explore the area by using the unpaved walking trails leading up the hills. It may even feel like a movie scene because Muir Woods was also used as the film set for a few blockbusters, such as the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”.
After exploring Muir Woods for about 1.5 hours at your leisure, we will head to charming Sausalito, a small
Mediterranean-style seaside town in Marin County, home to some of the country's wealthiest citizens. Sausalito is a gorgeous destination that offers boutique shopping, unique art galleries, parks, amazing food and breathtaking views of the bay.
If you wish to spend time in Sausalito, you can choose to hop off the tour and enjoy a ferry ride back to San
Francisco with beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz Island (ferry
tickets not included), or you can stay on board the tour and return back to San Francisco.
