We enjoyed our recent highlights tour of Mexico. There was lots to see and explore. We thought the ancient sites were magnificent. However, we recommend that people arrive in Mexico city a couple of days beforehand to acclimatise and really explore this magnificent city and its museums. In Particular the Anthropology museum. We really enjoyed the mountainous regions, and the indigenous areas were just so interesting. The towns and cities of San Christobal De las casas, Campeche and Merida were splendid and worth staying for longer and really getting to know.
Playa del Carmen at the end of the trip was a huge disappointment. It's not worth the effort and is a little tacky.

This trip packs a lot in - culture, Mayan sites, eating, seeing local craftsmen at work, and just soaking up the atmosphere in the old Spanish colonial towns. Around and about in Mexico city, beautiful Puebla, San Cristobal and then lots of Mayan sites.
The hotels were all good (had one slight problem in one of them but hopefully Exodus can get that sorted out for future trips).
There are some long travelling days due to the distances which need to be covered, but it's worth it and a lot of the scenery is just amazing to see.

Suggest improvements:
Premium hotels need to be more central in the major cities. Location is more important than swimming pools. We missed out in Oaxaca especially.
You must include a stop in Puebla, especially as we drive right past it. I visited separately and it’s a great stop off.

Excellent tour of Mexico. Their local reps were superb. Although very busy daily schedule with long adventurous days that include lots of walking to see the ancient ruins. Hotels, food and tour guide were excellent.

The trip was amazing from the get go. It was so well organised and easy as a traveller to do as much or as little as you wanted. was super knowledgable about everywhere we visited and you could especially passionate about giving us the best recommendations for what we wanted, even going out to his way to show us some of his personal favourites in his free time. It was great experience but for a Holiday too exhausting because of Long driving (4x 11hours where itinerary says 5-6h) and Bad Hotels. The Hotel Level is more like ?run down? B&Bs. Never breakfasts?! Exciting but exhausting.
