Kenyan Highlands and Plains Safari

Let me be upfront, this wasn’t a glamorous vacation. It was muddy. It was dusty. We had early mornings, long drives, and a few mosquito bites. But will I want to experiemce this again? Yes!
The tour was well organized, and the guide was a legend! Quite funny, patient, and ridiculously sharp-eyed. Samburu was our first real dive into the wild, and it delivered. We saw elephants on day one, and from there it just kept coming, leopards, hyenas, even a rare kudu.
One afternoon near Lake Nakuru, our vehicle got stuck in a patch of thick mud. Instead of getting annoyed, our group jumped out (after checking for nearby buffalo, obviously) and helped push. That’s the moment I’ll remember, complete strangers working together in the middle of Kenya. What impressed me most was how fast the team coordinated with support. Another vehicle was ready to assist if needed and our guide handled it all with total calm. You could tell they’ve got experience.
The boat ride at Naivasha was another highlight. There’s something eerie and beautiful about hippos watching you from the waterline. Then came Masai Mara, which just floored me. We saw a lion cub playing with its sibling and a herd of wildebeest thundering past. It’s a feeling out of the world.
The accommodations were decent, nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, and always ready with a warm meal. And I appreciated how the team kept things running smoothly from behind the scenes. Airport pickup was seamless, the group size was just right, and every transition from lodge to lodge was effortless for such a packed itinerary.
If you want pristine perfection maybe look elsewhere. But if you want raw beauty, real moments, and a sense of the world beyond your bubble, this is it. Hats off to the team for making it all flow.

Classic Kenya Safari

I’m an amateur wildlife photographer and booked this safari mainly to shoot the “Big Five.” I wasn’t disappointed.
The 4x4 vehicles had pop-up roofs which made it super easy to get clear shots. The guides were patient and even repositioned the vehicle to help me get better angles. I got shots of a male lion at golden hour, a herd of elephants with dust clouds swirling, and flamingos creating a pink blanket over Lake Nakuru.
Even beyond the animals, Kenya is photogenic as heck—acacia trees silhouetted against the sunset, Maasai people in their beautiful red garments, and of course, Mount Kilimanjaro standing quietly in the background at Amboseli.
This wasn’t just a vacation—it was a creative recharge. I’m already editing my portfolio to include a “Kenya” section!

I was cared for very well and every day was an adventure, spotting all sorts of wildlife. The vehicles and tracks in the Masai Mara were very bumpy at times and you get bounced around. This is known locally as an 'African massage'. Don't think you are going to be sitting still in the vehicle, because you are not. You can stand up and take photos and ask the driver to stop if you spot something.
The accommodation was extremely comfortable with lovely friendly and helpful local staff. The food was also very good and I think everyone is catered for regarding diet as it is mostly a buffet with many choices.
I need to go on a diet after this.
I went on my own but was in good company as everyone is there for the love of wildlife.
We had one glitch in Tsavo where we were given a driver/guide who was a freelance person and not as good as the others with his communication as to what we were doing and his skills to spot things, though he did his best. That driver then had to leave as and we were arranged with another driver who worked for the Kilaguni Lodge and was much better.
At the Ark Lodge, they feed the birds at times in the evening enabling people to see more birds and wildlife close up.
Similarly at Sarova Lodge.
Kilaguni Lodge in Tsavo has a terrace with beautiful outlook overlooking the African plains and a water hole with many animals and birds coming to drink. Each accommodation has its own special aspects.
It was an epic decision for me to spend that much money on a holiday but I am really glad I did so as I had a very memorable and fabulous time.

7 DAYS PERFECT BLEND SAFARI
This Safari begins with a visit to the famous Sweetwaters Game Reserve is 90,000-acre private ranch with magnificent views across the plains to the snow capped peaks of Mount Kenya.
The Chimpanzee Sanctuary is most informative and entertaining and should be visited while in the Game Reserve. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is incorporated within the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and is the only place in Kenya where this highly endangered and remarkably intelligent species can be seen.
Next you will visit Lake Nakuru National Reserve which is well known to host largest populations of both lesser and greater flamingos.
The Lake Naivasha and its surrounds are rich in natural bounty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya’s prime agricultural regions.
The Masai Mara Game Reserve – Kenya’s most famous and finest game sanctuary.
In the months of July to October each year, the wildebeests in their troops arrive at the Kenyan border, ready to cross the steep banks of the broad and fast flowing Mara River.
This crossing is truly the greatest episode of the entire migration. Hot on their heels are the predators of the savannah –lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.
The banks of the Mara River provide one of the best vantage points to witness the drama.
The Mara also offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe: over 450 species of animals have been recorded here.
You will most likely see the Big Five- lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard, and elephant. Not to mention numerous plain animals.
