Welcome to the Classic Inca Trail, the most famous and most spectacular hiking route in South America! This ancient 45-kilometer trail follows the footsteps of the Inca pilgrims to the gates of the sacred city of Machu Picchu, one of the new 7 Wonders of the World
Our exciting itinerary offers 4 days of trekking along the original Inca pathways, passing an array of Inca ruins along the way.
The trail is located high in the Peruvian Andes climbing gradually from the valley floor (2,700 m/8,856 ft) to the most spectacular mountain passes (as high as 4,215 m/13,825 ft). At every turn, the surrounding scenery will take your breath away!
Hiking the 4-day Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is a strenuous and awe-inspiring adventure. We will push ourselves to our physical limits, resting each night under the stunning Andean night sky.
On our final day, as the mist lifts to reveal the emerald peaks and terraced ruins of the mystical ancient city you’ll be rewarded for your efforts.
Action Peru Treks invites you to awaken your senses through this once in a lifetime experience trekking to Machu Picchu. If the 4-day trek is a bit too much for you, consider the Short Inca Trail hike instead.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Mesmerizing and mystical, the legend of Machu Picchu may never be fully unraveled. On a six day journey to the heart of it all, lace up those hiking boots to follow Eco Quechua Lodge along overgrown jungle trails, past hidden ruins, and through vibrant Andean communities to the Lost City of the Incas.
"WALKING IS THE SPEED WE WERE CREATED TO USE WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH LIFE."
- JORGEN JOHANSSON, BACKPACKER
The story begins in Cusco on the cobblestone streets that weave between the city's Spanish colonial churches and plazas. Once the beating pulse of the Incan Empire, it now serves as a historic and archeological prelude where the shops and markets that line the city streets expose ancient traditions and timeless customs.
After two days of urban exploration, it's time to hit the trail. Meander from the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes via the Malaga Pass, taking time off between two trekking days for a little relaxation. As the elevation rises, well-trod trails reveal unsullied views of the snow-capped Andes and verdant jungle canopies - rewards well worth the effort.
Tucked into the surrounding scenery, the Eco Quechua Lodge is a welcome respite from all that treking. Revive tired muscles with a soak in the nearby hot springs or jolt the senses with a cup of locally grown organic coffee before making the final ascent to the legendary Lost City of Machu Picchu.
Toes still tingling from the excitement - and all that walking - board the plane back home with a weary smile, still entranced by the memory of your time on the trail.

This travel operator provided us with a two-day trek to Machu Picchu that has to be experienced to be truly understood. Their crew of porters and cook provided exceptional service and meals. David's knowledge was outstanding and his attention to detail in regards to accommodation travel and gear storage was second to none. Overall a great trip with a phenomenal CEO in JC however the Puno portion of the trip and the kayaking left a bad taste in the mouth. It very much felt that we were being shipped to different locations just to give people money for things we didn?t want and the kayaking itself was just an hour and a half of straight paddling from one island to another. I would recommend avoiding Puno if possible.
