A great trip with an excellent tour guide, Weronika who is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
Our man in the van, Lluis, also enhanced the experience with a series of picnics through the week.
The tour struck a good balance between cycling and sight seeing. The accommodation was good quality and the travel logistics worked well.
A most enjoyable, at times challenging experience since we did the whole trip on conventional bikes. The bikes were in good condition, the chosen hotels were good, and the special app made navigation easy. We were lucky with the weather; I would have hated to do some of the gravel/dirt road stages in the rain.
Do you like gravel or MTB bike riding? Then this is the trip for you. Do you only like road bike riding? This isn’t the trip for you.
While there are sections on smooth backroads and bike paths, there are many sections on cobblestones, single track, forest trails, lumpy, bumpy and rocky paths. Some of these trails will be too steep or too rocky to ride and you will need to push your bike up these sections. There will also be times (mostly on day 1), where you will need to carry your bike up and down the stairs of flyovers of railway line crossings. There will also be times where the gps/Camino trail takes you down one way streets. There will also be a few times when the gps track differs from the Camino trail markers - we defaulted to following the Camino trail markers.
The challenge is worth it. Experiencing different scenery, visiting interesting towns, meeting walkers (we didn’t meet any other riders).
What a wonderful e-bike and barge tour from Paris to Epernay. Highly recommend. The conduct of this tour was professional in every way. The scenery so beautiful, the guides so knowledgeable and expert in their roles and the Zwaantze barge itself a wonderful barge to call home for such a tour ably managed by the captain Bart and his team. We loved the experience. Also second tour we have been on the Zwaantze as we did the Bruges to Amsterdam bike and Barge tour in 2018. These tours are wonderful ways to travel and enjoy being active at the same time.
A self guided supported cycle through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia exploring the western coast and historical cities. Pedal your way through three fascinating countries on this self-guided cycling holiday through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Starting in Vilnius and ending in Tallinn, this relaxed journey combines scenic backroads, historic towns and quiet countryside with the freedom to explore at your own pace. Along the way, discover the dramatic island castle at Trakai, the windswept dunes of the Curonian Spit and the symbolic Hill of Crosses. Ride through charming villages and Baltic forests before reaching Latvia’s lively capital, Riga. Dip your toes in the Baltic Sea at Jurmala, visit Latvia’s oldest church and explore the landscapes of Gauja National Park. Crossing into Estonia, cycle across Saaremaa Island to the Sorve Peninsula and its iconic lighthouse, visit the Kaali meteorite crater, and arrive at the medieval heart of Tallinn. With comfortable accommodation, luggage transfers, local support and guided city tours in each capital, this is a rewarding way to experience the rich contrasts of the Baltic region.
Amazing way to holiday, on a bike - busy but slow paced. The itinerary for each day was a great mix of cycling and activities to do along the way. Plenty of time to enjoy the sights. Loved it being self guided and at our own pace. Easy instructions and maps. Accomodation great.
Combine glorious Alpine panoramas with a wide range of activities, and you have the perfect ingredients for a fun-filled family holiday (from 12 years +). You stay in the picturesque Austrian village of Strobl, on the eastern shore of Lake Wolfgang, and one of the prettiest spots in the region. During your time here we provide a wide selection of fully researched self-guided walking and cycling routes, typically at 1-boot / 1-cycle level. To ensure total flexibility, we give you a complimentary Headwater bike for your exclusive use throughout your stay. There's also excellent local bus, ferry and cable car services (payable locally) linking the local lakes and villages.
The trip ticked all the boxes as I imagined them, starting with beaches with turquoise transparent waters on the first and last days, from there it was medieval market villages, quiet cycling tracks through vineyards, oaks and almond trees and of course the mountains and their excellent views. Quiet hotels with character, lovely Mediterranean food and above all the charming ways of the locals. I would love to do it again, changing the route to discover even more places.
