The world famous Coast-to-Coast is an exhilarating long-distance walking route originally described by the writer Alfred Wainwright in his book of the same name. First published in 1973, the book has grown in renown and today is as popular as ever, with the walk itself featuring on the bucket list of all keen walkers.
At nearly 200 miles in length, the route takes you across country, up fells and down dales, from Cumbria's St Bees, on the shores of the Irish Sea, to the picturesque fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay in Yorkshire, passing fabulous landscapes at every turn.
The tour runs through three national parks in northern England - the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors - and features some of the most spectacular and beautiful scenery in the country.
The walking is challenging and recommended for experienced fell walkers and confident map readers only, but the sense of achievement and camaraderie when you encounter fellow coast to coasters makes it all worthwhile.

This itinerary is full on but such an amazing tour and experiences . The Hadrian's wall trip was a perfect mix of hiking and touring the highlights of Northern England and the Lake District. Plenty of time to see the sites and do things on your own if desired. Bus provided ample leg room for us taller clients. We enjoyed the offered excursions even though we had been to many of the cities previously. This was our third trip with Insight and not our last. Having traveled with Trafalgar and Brendan also, Insight is our top pick for future travels.

The destinations and scenery were very nice. I do feel we were rushed in the later half of the trip and wished I had some more time in some locations. I loved the maps and hints of places to see in the limited time we had. I would have liked a bit more free time to explore. Since this was our first tour I felt it was overall a good learning experience. I might suggest that upon booking the trip you inform people on the currency denominations and look and best ways to exchange such. Also, information on transit systems with routes and best way to move around a city. Also, best way to get wifi and upgrade your phone so when you cannot connect. This would be helpful to new travelers.
