After an early morning departure from Cusco, we will drive to the town of Soraypampa and begin our trek to Humantay Lake, located at 4,300 meters. En route, we will make a brief stop at Tarawasi archaelogical site to explore Inca ruins. Once at the lake, guests will have time for photography and to explore the surrounding area. We will then make our way back down the mountain for a gourmet box lunch prior to our departure from this serene landscape. After lunch, we will drive back through the Andes to Quillarumiyoc, an archaeological site where the Incans made ceremonies to worship the moon. The literal translation of the name means “the place of the moon rock”. The site itself showplaces waterways, terraces, petroglyphs and a huge rock with a semicircular cut in the shape of a crescent moon. Quillarumiyoc is a little-known site seldom frequented by tourists but is an incredibly interesting site to view. Challenge yourself as you climb a number of big passes, including the highest point at the Huayanay Pass (4,650 m). At all times, your guide and crew will ensure that the pace is suitable for everyone in the group, taking breaks for rest and food whenever needed.
