This tour was so amazing and Smile made sure it was for all of us!!! He’s an amazing guide, friend, comedian and bodyguard ;)! I couldn’t have wished for a better tour guide. He made sure everyone was comfortable and having fun all the time. We learned so much about the culture and history of Thailand. My favorite part of this trip was the jungle trek and sleeping in the local village. Playing with the kids, seeing them happy and giving them snacks and toys was something that gave me so much joy. Journeys: Iconic Thailand was a fabulous experience!!! We had the most wonderful tour guide (shout out to Natthanan Chai Yenklom--the very best!!!!) who looked after every detail and made the experience comfortable and enjoyable for each person on the trip. I loved the varied activities--the home visit and cooking class in Chiang Mai; Ko Klang Island and Hong Island in Southern Thailand; and the amazing temples in Bangkok were particular highlights for me on the trip. I would do another National Geographic Journeys/G Adventures tour in the future!
Excellent trip and money time value. The total tour experiences and all the hotels selections were well planned. Totally in agreement with the choices made by the tour operator. This trip was the perfect balance. I’d always been curious about Thailand but I wasn’t looking for a beach holiday. I wanted a deeper connection, something that would help me understand the soul of the country. Thailand Odyssey delivered that and more.
What stood out to me most was how thoughtful the experience felt. Nothing was overdone or overly “touristy.” Whether we were visiting temples, walking through old ruins, or floating past boats stacked with mangoes and steaming dumplings, it all felt genuine and grounded in place.
The pace was just right. I never felt rushed and yet we saw and experienced so much. Some moments were vibrant and full of life, like drifting through the floating market or sharing meals at small, local spots. Others were more contemplative like taking in the quiet beauty of ancient temples or riding the train past green hills with history hanging in the air.
Traveling in a little group made a real difference. We had enough time and space to connect with each other but also room for quiet reflection. The accommodations were comfortable, the meals were memorable (I’m still thinking about that green curry), and the logistics were smooth from start to finish.
This isn’t a flashy tour. It’s not about luxury or checking off Instagram shots. It’s about slowing down, absorbing your surroundings, and returning home with stories that linger. If that sounds like your kind of travel, I can’t recommend it enough.
Honestly, Thai food is a bit spicy for us, but I really have to admit that their cuisine is very diverse and rich. I was pleasant with the good service provided by this tour company. From the moment we arrived in Bangkok, our guide greeted us with warmth and a detailed overview of what to expect. Well-planned itinerary, well-chosen accommodations and wonderful landscapes.
