The north of Thailand was my FAVOURITE. I loved the diverse range of 'stays' which kept it exciting and much like an adventure and showed what Thailand had to offer. The Jungle Raft on the second night was an essential bonding experience for the group and allowed us to build friendships and enjoy the trip way more than if we hadn't had that crucial opportunity to connect. The included experiences, free time add ons, and even trip manager suggestions were all top tier! I didn't regret a single experience. 2 night stays were also a relief as travelling can get quite tiring and found that their timing was essential.

Stunning start in Singapore - Su the local guide was brilliant. She was very informative and engaging. She had spare travel cards we could use if we weren't able to use bankcards on public transport. Wasn't expecting to love Singapore as much as I did. Enough free time to go on a boat trip and visit the amazing Gardens By the Bay and use Su's travel card. Hotel was good too location and I arrived very early and they were able to get me checked me early.
Malaysia was good too but more full on. Melaka was fun, Kuala Lumpur again I enjoyed much more than I was expecting. Location of the hotel was great. Ipoh interesting. The Homestay was very good - not tempted to swim in the lake and the only time we had rain but very atmospheric. Cameron Highlands and Mossy Forest and Tea Plantation very interesting. The two local guides/drivers were again excellent. Penang and the temple visit were highlights. After the trip I had another couple of nights in Penang and discovered the free bus that runs round Georgetown every 15 minutes - this would have been good to know about as I did a lot of walking in Penang. Hotel a bit far out. Langkawi was a good end to the trip. Very relaxing and again lots of walking as a resort hotel on the beach which was comfortable though on the outskirts of the town. Bizarrely there was a lovely infinity pool BUT even as guests you had to pay to use it!
Lovely fun group of 9 and so many guides, all good. Andrew the tour leader, Sam, our Malaysian guide and Hasli who normally guides in Borneo. Could be my next trip!

We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We did see a lot of wildlife, though not as much as expected given the advertising for what we would see (we understand this is nature, but Borneo has definitely suffered from the palm oil plantations, the lack of birdlife was evident). The trip notes need updating - the Malaysian Rhino is extinct. Some improvement suggestions is that the tour group was too big (we had 15) for the types of activities and level of fitness needed. One less night in Kuching and instead have a night in Baku National Park would have been better. The park doesn't open til 8-9am so we missed seeing a lot of wildlife at dawn as by the time we got there it was already hot and sunny. It would have been good to know that we were changing guides half way through the tour. We found out it's because they can't work in the other state of Malaysia, (Sarawak and Sabah need different visas) but it would have been nice to know before the trip. If there was a way we could keep the same guide that would be ideal. At least if the first guide had even experienced the whole trip end to end so he could talk about what the second leg involved would have been beneficial. Other than that, we loved the holiday and the accommodation and meals were all of a high standard.
