I had a great time on this tour, it was a really great way to take the stress and anxiety out of going to a new country by yourself and not knowing the language. It was good mix of activities, nature, temples, cities, and food. The experience I had with them felt far more authentic and less touristy than the other tour I booked right after the trip in Hanoi. Would happily travel with them again!

Northern Vietnam and Laos are relatively little-known regions in South East Asia, yet they abound with natural and cultural marvels, including extensive intact jungle landscapes and remnants of prehistoric civilizations. They are deeply connected through their shared ecologies, ethnic groups, and socio-economic evolution. On this 14-day journey, we will uncover secrets of this vast land of jungles, rivers, and mountains, an absolute dream for cyclists.
Leaving Hanoi, we ride through a series of traditional villages on the Red River Delta, towering karst mountains, refreshing forest, and fertile rice fields. We visit Hoa Lu, the former capital of Vietnam and cycle through the gigantic Cuc Phuong National park, gaining a full picture of Vietnam’s natural and political heritage. Crossing the border into Laos, we visit Vieng Xai, aka The Hidden City, with hundreds of caves used to shelter the Laos Communist Party combatants during the Second Indochina War. The ride then continues into the Nam Et-Phou Louey conservation area, where you’ll enjoy a night safari on a long-tail boat and stand a chance of spotting exotic wildlife. The next stop is the famous Xieng Khouang Plateau, the resting place of the Plain of Jars, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The region is also one of the heaviest bombed during the American War, otherwise known as the Vietnam War. Cycling among mysterious stone jars and bomb craters, we’ll learn about the significance of the plateau, which dates back to the Bronze Age. The tour culminates on the shores of the Mekong River in Luang Prabang, another World Heritage Site renowned for its colonial and vernacular architecture, glittering Buddhist temples and ascetic saffron-robed monks.
Join us on our exploration of this mysterious, absorbing region and see a whole new side of these fascinating countries!

I truly couldn?t have asked for a better trip!! My group was warm and friendly, our CEO Sony was intentional about supporting as many locals as possible with our visit, and it was a great mix of optional and included activities. The flexibility of doing what I wanted while also combining with the safety of having a group of other foreigners balanced out nicely. The price point was another great factor. I?d happily tour with G Adventures again!

This tour felt like a crash course in Southeast Asia, but in a good way. I wasn’t sure how much ground we could realistically cover in just over a week but this trip proved you don’t need a month to experience something meaningful. Everything was well-organized. What stood out most to me was how different Vietnam and Cambodia felt, even though they’re neighbors.
Hanoi was buzzing with life..scooters zipping by, food stalls everywhere, and this mix of modern and old that was fascinating to watch. Our guide helped us navigate the chaos in a way that made it feel approachable rather than overwhelming. Then, just when things felt fast-paced we got a breather on the Ha Long Bay cruise. Being out on the water was peaceful, the views were unreal.
In Cambodia, Angkor Wat was the big draw, and yes, it was absolutely worth it. But what I didn’t expect was how much I enjoyed the in-between moments.
And while there’s always a lot of walking on these kinds of trips, the pace felt doable, even for those of us who aren’t exactly as young as me (53 :p)
Would I do it again? Definitely. The trip left me feeling like I got a true taste of two cultures.
Join us on this guided, 4-hour-long tour of Hoi An, a port city that was a major trading center of Southeast Asia in the 16th century, and get the chance to learn more about the city’s melting-pot history through its architecture.
Meet your tour guide and driver at your hotel and drive to Hoi An's World Heritage site of Ancient Town. The town lies on the banks of the Thu Bon River and is criss-crossed by numerous canals. Note the distinct Chinese architecture of its houses with low, tile roofs built on narrow streets. All the houses were made of rare wood and decorated with lacquered boards.
Start walking around town with your guide and visit some of the most important monuments of the city, including the old house of Tan Ky, Fukian Assembly Hall (an ornate Chinese temple that was first built in 1692), the Japanese Covered Bridge and local markets and harbors.
Enjoy Hoi An’s traditional dance and folk song performances before heading for lunch. Savor delicious Hoi An specialities like banh mi, cao lau and the famous white rose. Drive back to the hotel after lunch.
Exercise the body and the mind with a leg pumping, eye-opening cycling tour of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. Enjoy a different perspective as you bike through the limestone cliffs of north Vietnam, along rock-face hugging passes down the stunning coast and on to buzzing Ho Chi Minh City. Take dusty roads through rural villages in Cambodia, exploring nature-strewn ruins and spending time with locals, before finishing up in frenetic Bangkok. Work up an appetite and reward yourself with the delicious dishes the overflow in the streets – the pho in Vietnam, the fish curry in Cambodia and pad thai in Bangkok. Shift your adventure into a higher gear with a journey that takes you to the highlights of Southeast Asia.
