I had a terrific weekend touring Darjeeling with Kiran Rai as guide and Dipu Lepcha as driver. We packed a lot of sights into a short period of time but they managed things smoothly so it never felt rushed. Kiran was extremely knowledgeable about everything and gave me a lot to learn and think about throughout the weekend, as we discussed the background of the Tibetan monastery, Buddhism, the tea industry, the politics of the hill country within the state of West Bengal, as well as history of the region from the British Raj to independence to the present day. Dipu did an amazing job driving amidst difficult traffic in Bagdogra and the mountain road to Darjeeling.

As CEO and founder, Prem is both an entrepreneur and compassionate community leader. His team's attention to detail was key to our trip. Upon our initial visit with him in Nepal he assessed our needs and quickly suggested we do the ultralight flight in Pokhara, which of course, we knew nothing about - and it turned out to a major highlight of our Nepal visit. This chap Prem, raised in the mountains of Gorkha, knows his stuff. Our pick for guide of the year - is the guide that truly made our entire trip special - Dill Tamang. Having been involved in this sector for many years his immense knowledge flows out of him as you walk through magical Nepal with your mouth wide open. Dill, who himself was born in a remote village in Nepal showed us the incredible beauty of Nepal in so many ways. He understood us within the first day. This tour hit all the right notes for us. We wanted something that showed us different parts of Thailand without being too intense or expensive. The days were full but never overwhelming. We saw big landmarks like the Grand Palace and White Temple but also had time for small experiences, like sipping coffee at a local cafe in Chiang Mai or watching the sunset from the beach in Phuket. The flights between cities made travel easy and we were always met on time. Having a guide in each place helped us understand the history and customs better and they answered every question we had. We’re not “tour people,” usually, but this one made things simple. It was structured but with enough flexibility. If you’re thinking about Thailand and want a little adventure without the stress of planning I’d definitely recommend this tour.
