A five-day breathtaking trek in the Cordillera Vilcanota, on a route we call the “The trail of the Apu” located in close proximity to the highest sacred mountain in the Cusco region, Mt. Ausangate. The Apu Ausangate is the bearer of life and the guardian of one of the most pristine mountain ecosystems in the world.
The trek is accompanied by llamas and horses that will carry our gear. These are owned by shepherds of the native community of Chillca who are proud to share their land with us, as well as the Spirit of their inspiring world. During this "Five-day Choquequirao Trek" you will be able to observe part of the Apurimac canyon and river, one of the most beautiful and deepest canyons in Peru. Continuing the route, we will arrive at the charming city of Choquequirao, where we will explore the stone buildings of Inca architecture, such as large cultivation terraces, squares, warehouses, homes, among others.
Also considered the "Sister of Machu Picchu" due to the similarity of architecture, Choquequirao was a special Inca town located on top of a hill to venerate Pachacutec, the ruler of the Inca state. This hidden beauty will show you the most fascinating landscapes, exotic flora and fauna and diverse ecosystems from two different regions of Peru. So, get ready to explore an Inca hidden gem.
In this "Five-Day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu" trek you will walk the most beautiful trail that takes you to the 15th-century Inca citadel site. The Inca trail combines Inca ruins, original Inca trail, Inca steps (up and down), ecological sites with lush and diverse vegetation.
En route, you will find more than 350 species of orchids in the sanctuary, diversified, and evolved flowers in the vegetable kingdom and fauna with numerous species of insects, reptiles, birds, and mammals, the most representative of this area — the spectacled bears( tremarctus ornatus).
At the end of the trail, you will have your first sight of Machu Picchu walking through the Sun Gate, where you could see the ancient ruins from above.
