Rome Tours and Trips

Really appreciated the tour of the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museum. Would have liked to visit the St. Peter's Basilica and the Pieta. Sorry that that did not happen. The rest of the tour was wonderful. Really appreciated all the optional excursions. Would've liked to have seen a bit more of Rome itself. A big thank you to Tayla Gatt, our Tour Director. She was excellent at her job - really helpful, full of great information and suggestions. Our tour bus driver, Danielli, was superb at his job. Really appreciated his navigation skills.

We had a great trip to Italy and saw so much on the Escapade itinerary. We also had a great tour director and driver. We liked the ease of the tour because all driving, tickets, hotels, and many meals we arranged. It would have taken so much more time to arrange this trip ourselves and it would have been much more stressful. We enjoyed the group we traveled with as well. I would recommend spending a few extra days before or after the trip on your own. We only stayed one extra day and I wish we had done at least two or three. There is so much to see in Rome so these extra days would be helpful. Each area of the trip had it's own beauty and history. We will choose future trips with Insight and hope they will be as great as our Italy experience!

Overall, the itinerary is great and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour! Excellent tour director and driver! It would be good for people to know how long the optional experiences are so you can fit in some free time to either relax or do some shopping. By opting in for all of the optional experiences, you don't have much time on your own. It is a very fast paced itinerary. It was my first tour so it now I know to not opt in for all optional experiences if I want to have some down time and/or personal time.

The Italian Escapade Tour was excellent thanks to our caring Tour Director Tayla and safe coach driver Daniele. Tayla ensured everything was very organised and her informative commentary brought the amazing places of interest to life. The itinerary covered everything you need to see with local expert knowledge adding to the experience.

Overall, this was an amazing tour of incredible Italy! However, there were a couple of improvements that would have made it even better. First, there should have been a tour of the Colusseum even if there would need to be 3 days in Rome! Also, we were unable to tour Lake Como because Trafalgar does not have a contract with a boat company there even though the itinerary said we would get to tour. There was nothing to do there and very little time so this should be looked at. A couple of the hotels were very disappointing especially the Sierra Silvano which was smelly, old, and too far away from the beautiful coast. A Google search made it look like I could go to the beach while there but it as in the jungle and pool wasn’t even open even though the itinerary said relaxing by the pool! Also, the Grand Hotele room in Florence was right by the staff elevator and I got no sleep during this stay. Finally, the last night’s dinner while delicious should be special and include a time of saying goodbye. We were at small tables and didn’t even take a group picture. It was very anticlimactic after such an amazing trip. Barbara and our driver were wonderful and were experts at their jobs! I already have family and friends asking for referrals and I will definitely use Trafalgar again if finances allow.
