Southern Africa Cruise Tour Reviews

One of my best ever adventures, made special by a caring group and Julio our experienced and knowledgeable guide who was full of enthusiasm and cared about everyone. My top highlights were Taquile Island, particularly the singing and dancing around the fire, and camping above the clouds on the Inca Trail. Other high points included the Lima v Arequippa football match, Huacachina Oasis, the floating islands, the hot springs and Ollantayambo.

This was a great tour with the right mixture of planned activities, optional activities and free time. The walks on each of the islands were a highlight - the scenery inland was just as spectacular as the coast. Our tour leader Peter was knowledgeable, supportive and fun. We had a great group too!

Our tour guide, Sarah, and bus driver, Andy, we fantastic. They guided us through London and Paris expertly. The excursions were well planned. The optional excursions were excellent. The local tour guides were top notch. The pre-trip emails and notifications were excellent. We were well prepared. We were very pleased with Trafalgar and will definitely use them again.

Julio was an excellent guide- the best I have experienced. His knowledge, enthusiasm and lovely sense of humour helped to make the trip unforgettable. Highlights included staying at a home stay on Lake Titicaca, condor viewing, seeing Humboldt penguins, trekking over the Dead Woman’s Pass and seeing Machu Picchu.

This trip is not for the faint- hearted. But for me, part of the appeal was very basic accommodation, sleeping in a hammock on deck and showering in cold river water. If you don't expect any luxury on the water, you'll love it. With no changing facilities on board apart from a rudimentary loo/ shower you get to know your fellow travellers very well. And great teamwork when the boat was caught in a storm, battening diwn the hatches. Explore make it clear that it isn't what most people would describe as a cruise!

I had a wonderful trip, we went to many great places. My only issue is that we didn't have a lot of down time after the excursions were done in order to explore, eat, shop around, etc..
