Amazing holiday, made by our fantastic, unflappable, informative guide/driver Sheona. You can read all the blurb on Explore website about what to see. Great itinerary, my only observation would be please make it 14 days so those of us taking weeks of work can have more Namibia time! Here's some observations that might help you make a choice about whether this trip is for you. * it's a great mix of scenery and wildlife, with the wildlife getting more abundant as the trip goes on * some of the journeys are long (Namibia is a big place!) but the scenery and contrasts are amazing * it's hot in the summer - we had high 30's. Be prepared to get up early for cooler temps. * food is generally very good though if you are a veggie in some places there is a limited choice * in Swakopmund if you are at all into cycling go on the e-bike desert tour on the free day - it was absolutely amazing. Overall a fantastic trip - highly recommended.
I had an absolutely fantastic time in Namibia throughout the tour. The holiday was alot of fun, exciting and different to holidays I have taken in the past. I would highly recommend the country, Jo (the guide) and G-Adventures to anyone who is interested in Africa/Namibia.
I wasn't sure when I signed up for this particular tour if it was the right one for me so my expectations were reasonably low. What I actually experienced was one of the best tours I have participate in. The whole experience was brilliant. However, the Okavango Delta absolutely blew me away and had such a profound effect on my outlook on life and sitting around fire under the starlit sky will live in my memory forever. The whole journey through Botswana was truly life changing - at times so basic, but equally, so beautiful. Africa has stolen a piece of my heart and I can not wait to return to explore more with G Adventures.
From sand dunes to rock piles to boat trips to game safaris, there is so much to see in Namibia, albeit separated by several hours of less interesting drives through desert scrub. But this trip managed to make it all interesting, splitting the longer drives up with short stops. The converted truck/bus ("Gogga") was comfortable enough, even though the AC had problems coping with the 35°C + heat. Accommodations were good, and vegetarians were accommodated well enough.
This was an amazing holiday, Namibia is a very special place. There is a lot of travel in this trip but our guide, Riaan, was amazing and made everything fun. He was so knowledgeable about all aspects from geology to bird species. There were so many magical moments but seeing elephants standing right next to our vehicle is definitely up there, along with running down a sand dune in Sossusvlei and seeing cheetahs and spotted hyenas
This was a great trip overall. You really got to see the country, including the amazing red sand dunes, the Skelton coast and of course wildlife in Etosha National Park. This did mean that there were some long drives, but this all felt part of the adventure. We had a fantastic group and the accommodation was spot on in all places.
