A great chance to spend a week in Malta & Gozo seeing most of what the islands have to offer but avoiding the beaches. Chantelle was an excellent tour leader. Her knowledge of the area is impressive & she really cares that people enjoy the trip. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed Malta and Sicily trips. All guides at sites visited were v knowledgeable and informative; both tour leaders, Chantelle and Daniele, were enthusiastic and went to great lengths to make our trip the best possible, and we had some interesting and fun fellow travellers. Thanks very much.
We saw many sites, had three boat rides, and went to many places in a short period of time. The coastline of Gozo is spectacular. Our guide, Chantelle, taught us history, ancient and modern. She shared her country with us from a perspective of passion and knowledge. Our group dinners together were fun and we ate at wonderful restaurants at Chantelle's recommendation. I highly recommend this trip. Malta and Gozo are beautiful, deeply historical and varied in many so different ways. Coming from the US I arrived a few days early to get over the jet lag before the tour started. I recommend that as the days were full.
Overall, a great experience and very good introduction to Malta and Gozo. Having a small group of nine was a plus. Our tour leader Chantelle was outstanding, very experienced, organized, friendly and knowledgeable. She even kept going with only a brief delay after being bitten by a dog during a free time break! She organized an evening outing for some of the group to a religious festival one night on Gozo, which was a great bonus. One suggestion would be to get an hour earlier start on the last day to spend more time in Mdina.
This trip included all aspects of both Gozo and Malta with visiting not only ancient temples, monuments, buildings and churches, but being advised on the history of the civilisation which formed the Country. As well as this there was the optional boat trips which also gave an insight to the rock formations and caves only visible by sea. There was of course the included trip around the harbour in Valletta with vocal descriptions of the different aspects being seen. The only drawback I could see were the enormous cruise ships in the harbour! Chantelle, our tour leader was excellent in all aspects, ensuring that everything from the day to day activities to people’s welfare was explained to ensure everyone had a good experience. Transport was adequate with excellent drivers which was certainly needed with the narrow roads especially in the towns/cities. So all in all, an excellent holiday which I’d certainly recommend for anyone considering visiting, but must enjoy walking as there’s a lot of that!
Gozo was wonderful and definitely worth 2 days. Malta probably only needs 3 days not 4 or swap a couple of activities to allow more free time in Valletta or Mdina. In the 6 days, there were 4 boat rides, 3 related to seeing blue grottoes or cliffs. The longer Valletta boat trip was very good and perhaps one grotto ride would be enough. The afternoon spent with a local farmer was far too long. Plus while it was nice to be in 1 hotel for 5 days ie Sliema, perhaps 3 there and 2 further south closer to Mdina would be better. We did the Classic Sicily the week before which was busier so enjoyed the slower pace but I would have found the Malta week too slow by itself.
