JohnPaul in Gozo & Malta was very organised & shared his vast knowledge with the group. He used WhatsApp to ensure we knew what was happening each day. In Malta, some of the days could've been made shorter when it was very hot & a few tour members weren't well. Eg: wd could have missed the Presidential garden. In Sicily we had a fantastic experience with Danielle. Again he was well organised, hsed WhatsApp to keep us informed & shared his knowledge together wiith insider tips. He always gave us a preview to towns in the bus & escorted us to ensure we had an initial understanding of the towns & what we could do. He made extra effort to look after us eg: when I was sick with a sinus infection, he organised a bowl of vegetable soup for me instead of the set menu & when my friend was having difficulty with the Mt Etna hike because the guide was too fast on the uphill hike & didn't allow a stop, Dabiele escorted him at a slower pace so he could continue the experience.
The tour was very easy paced with highlighted sites - for a first time visit it covered the main sights/ history for those who don’t want to do their own research & with sufficient free time for personal exploration, there was a balance for when the group has people who walk at a much slower pace The hotel was great, location views amenities - roof top bar in the evenings was a hit with us! The tour leader was knowledgeable as were the daily local guides ( a bit of repetition of information/ history) The optional tours were expensive & as Malta is a tourist destination there are a lot of alternatives to the same sites so look around
This trip was fabulous. The itinerary, activities and accommodations were great. Our tour guide John was personable, organised, well-informed on Malta and Gozo and passionate in sharing his knowledge. I doubt that I could have enjoyed the trip more. 10/10
Gozo was calm and relaxing, Malta was full on, but wherever we were or whatever we were doing, Althea, our guide was there with history, insight and humour. She went above and beyond and I think we all had a fantastic time. I loved the history, the boat trips and the food.
We just returned from a wonderful trip in Malta. A jam packed week of history, culture, architecture and food in this lovely beautiful country totally exceeded our expectations. Our illustrious leader promised on our first day and boy did she deliver. So much to see and brought to life by animated Althea. After traveling to more than 70 countries I can honestly and confidently say she is one of the best tour leaders we’ve experienced. She kept us totally engaged and entertained with her personal experiences and KNOWLEDGE. Malta can’t have a better ambassador and Explore Worldwide a more competent representative. We always felt safe, taken care of and enlightened. Thank you Althea for such an amazing experience in your incredible home country
I gave the Plaza Regency (Regency Plaza) a "good" rating only bc the staff was not customer oriented & did not go out of their way. We had a few issues (showers not draining, towels not left in rooms on a daily basis), but there was a major issue, especially with management (specifically a female manager) bc we had picked THIS hotel bc we were coming in early before going to meet the group on our tour date. We had prior communications with the hotel requesting to leave our suitcases in the baggage hold for 2 days while going to Gozo as part of the tour & afterwards the tour would return to this hotel & we'd pick up said luggage. There were 3 of us. (We had been on a prior tour for 2 weeks with another company & didn't want to haul our luggage to Gozo.) The hotel responded positively that we could store our luggage for the 2 days, YET once there there insued a 2 day argument with management ensued whereby they refused to hold our larger luggage. Because one of our members knew the name of the person from previous correspondence, management finally relented, allowed the holding of our luggage, however, they would not take responsibility for it & they promised to reprimand the person giving the initial permission to hold our luggage. (This should not have been communicated to us, very unprofessional. ) This was a stressful beginning to our Malta excursion. Honestly, I have put this ordeal on Social Media with Expedia, Booking.com, Trip Advisor and on Facebook. I only mentioned the hotel, not the travel company. The travel company was excellent & had nothing to do with the luggage issue. What a shame bc there was nothing wrong with the hotel physically and it was in an excellent locale, it's just that the management was so bad. I travel 3-4 major trips around the world each year & have never encountered such abhorrent behavior on the part of any hotel.
