Excellent trip that was well worth the experience! We valued highly the thoughtful journey along with the excursions. The value as we saw it was that we knew would be excited each day to go along with program that had been planned knowing we were in expert hands. The team certainly keep you both informed and entertained to the point that all we had to do was to relax, sit back and let the trip wash over us and enjoy the company of the other travellers as well as our expert leader and driver. The opportunity to see and do all that we did made it an experience that we shall treasure always. This trip Darwin to Uluru was both memorable and as we saw it of great value in so many ways. Yes we will when the time is right take other trips with AAT Kings because for us our bucket list has expanded knowing we will certainly enjoy tripping around with them!

The NT Explorer trip from AAT/Kings was good value and we found the trip to be both interesting, informative and a lot of fun. The TD Christin and the driver Macca were excellent and particularly with Christin, her knowledge of the areas visited was terrific and nothing was too much trouble, she would go out of her way to make sure all aspects of a successful and enjoyable trip was had by all on board. It was also with a smaller group of 21 passengers which enhanced the whole experience. We have been on other AAT/Kings tours and also travelled with sister company Trafalgar and can certainly recommend their professional attitude and attention to detail, and look forward to our next adventure.

Absolute banger of a time! I've always wanted to go to Australia for many years now and going with Contiki, especially with on the North Queensland to Uluru, was totally worth it! I couldn't speak for the sailing version of the trip, but the land stay in Airlie beach was really a nice bit. I would recommend going in the drier seasons because it rained and was quite windy during our stay in Queensland but nonetheless, a really exciting opportunity for everyone. If it's your first time going to Australia like it was for me, this is absolutely the trip to go, as you'll be seeing the natural highlights of the continent!

Great Tour

Had a great tour on the Rock to Water tour with Sam. Sam was very knowledgeable and provided lots of information on the flora and fauna and history during the tour. There were lots of jokes and stories on the way and the group got along really well together. The food cooked by Sam was great as well! Would highly recommend the tour! Thanks Sam!

Great Tour

Did the Rock patrol Adelaide to Alice tour this past July and IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY! My group size was just right that there were enough new faces to meet without feeling like number. Shoutout to Andrew for being an awesome guide and go out of the group's way to drop me at the airport for my outbound flight, fellow group members for the vibe, and all the places that the tour took me to. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an awesome experience in the Outback

Uluru - Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Travel Highlights

  • For visitors on an Australia tour, Uluru is an instantly recognizable icon of the Australian outback. The red ochre rock formation that rises 863 meters above the ground is considered to be a sacred site by the Aboriginal people of the region who have dedicated many legends to the majestic Uluru.
  • Kata Tjuta, another intriguing nature-created feat, is composed of several domed rock sculptures. This fascinating formation is believed to be over 500 million years old.
  • Wintjiri Arts and Museum is a space dedicated to regional Aboriginal arts. It contains a gallery showcasing local talent, as well as a shop, where you can purchase art-inspired gifts and souvenirs.
  • Imalung lookout is the perfect spot for gazing at the immensity of the Uluru rock, especially at sunsets.
  • Kings Canyon is another highlight that should be visited during a trip to the Red Center, located about 300 km from the National Park.

Travel Tips

  • The most favorable period for vising Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park is between the months of May and September. This is when the weather is cooler and more suitable for hiking and nature exploration, while the vibrant colors of the rocks come out in full force. However, this is also the most popular time of the year for tourists, so if you’d prefer to explore the national park and Yulara away from the crowds, you might want to avoid peak season.
  • Even though climbing the Uluru is not formally banned, it is frowned upon by local indigenous communities, who believe this landmark is sacred.
  • Other than impressive rock formations, Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is also home to various kinds of exotic wildlife, which includes numerous species of mammals, reptiles, birds and frogs.
