Reviews of our San Jose Tours for April
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around San Jose during April.
Excellent trip with Gracie, I did things I never would have tried by myself such as rappelling down waterfalls and ziplining 1.5km. Saw some amazing wildlife and met some great people.
Great experience - learned so much more about the country and the area and connected with fellow travelers from around the world. The small group tour made travel a breeze for this single mom traveling solo with her son!
We had a great trip thanks to our wonderful guide, Diago, and our travelling companions. Diago was very knowledgable and he often found wildlife for us. He also several times a day spent 10 minutes or so telling us about different aspects of Costa Rican culture. This was always interesting and fun. I appreciated the way this tour was constructed to provide the opportunity to see wildlife in different climatic zones. Some accommodation was really really good. A couple of places were a bit disappointing but they were clean and comfortable. The last hotel was on a noisy road - but it had a reserve and walk attached where we saw some great wildlife. Another less good hotel had very small older style rooms and was in town (rather than the countryside): while initially disappointing it did mean we were able to easily get to a choice of good restaurants and there did not seem to be a better hotel that offered that. Sometimes the food at the hotels we stayed in was a bit disappointing.
The tour leader went out of his way to make sure we made the most of the time. His knowledge of the flora/fauna birds etc.really helped He added extra activities and fun -- street food, chocolate factory, purple ice cream, walks in the forest and the driver took us everywhere.I would definitely use this leader and the company organisation was perfect. The hotels were very good although I was cold in the first hotel and asked twice for blankets and was brushed off but it was well situated
Accommodations were more than sufficient, but most hotels did not have air conditioning. This wasn't an issue for us as the temperatures cooled down quite a bit at night. With choosing the optional experiences, the itinerary was quite full each day, with downtime only after dinner. We wanted to have full days of exploring so this was great for us, but for those wanting a more laid back tour, this is also possible by booking less of the optional tours.
Interesting trip, full of culture, beautiful scenery, volcanoes and lakes. Learning about the Mayan people. Difficult obtaining a visa for Honduras. The Mayan ruins & the village of Copan was interesting but not sure it’s worth the hassle with the visa! Our guide Miguel was excellent.
