Amazing trip!! Wonderful guide, comfy and spacious bus for transportation between cities, amazing hotels, and great add-ons + included activities. I usually spend weeks planning out a trip and this made it so seamless. I'd highly recommend! (Not to mention, Ecuador was SO beautiful and exceeded my expectations. It also felt very safe). Shoutout to -- I'm a vegetarian and was worried about having enough food and he always did SUCH a good job making sure I had great options. Very thoughtful, helpful, knowledgeable, and fun guide.
Hotels were good and except for the one in Cusco, they were very well located. Itinerary was great. I was met with friendly guides and drivers at each stage. City tours were excellent.
The Napo Lodge Wildlife centre lodges are amazing and very comfortable. Lots of wildlife to see from the open canoe up the various creeks and the easy walking through the jungle. In Galapagos we did the western itinerary (B) this time having done the eastern itinerary 10 years ago. We found the two to be quite different in some ways with noticeably fewer seabirds on this trip compared to 10 years ago although they were slightly different times of year. However this itinerary is much better for penguins and turtles and the flightless cormorant can only be seen on itinerary B. B is said to be better for whales but we didn't see any - just dolphins. Either way it is a tremendous wildlife experience but don't expect an idyllic tropical island paradise, the islands can be quite stark and barren and the water is cold despite it being on the equator.
An absolutely amazing trip!! The islands were beyond words - truly amazing. All other aspects where great - from the Mauricio (the tour guide), the crew on the boat and the boat.
Ecuador is a very interesting country, much of it at significant altitude. In March, on day one, on the equator the temperature in Quito at over 2000 metres was only about 20 degrees C but I got quite badly sunburned in just an hour without a hat. The variety of environment was , as indicated by the name of the trip, extreme from canoe trips in the Amazon rain forest to wearing most of my clothes at nearly 5000 metres on Chimborazu.. In the past we have shied away from group trips after some bad experiences but this time it was the people that we were with that helped make the trip more enjoyable. However what really made the trip memorable was our excellent guide Fabien who took us to places that we would never have dreamed of going to and introduced us to fascinating people that again we would never have met without his help. Other than Guayaquil this was one of the best holidays we can remember.
Ecuador is definitely worth to discover, it's natural beauty is absolutely fantastic! Unique geographical location is giving a chance to experience different climate zones, eco systems and even to reach the highest point on the planet (Chimborazo mountain). The journey over all was even better than we expected: very knowledgeable and professional guide, great accommodations, delicious food, wonderful hiking routes and other activities. It is very adventurous and full of excitement trip, where you can enjoy wildlife, visit historical sites, meet local indigenous people and learn about their customs and traditions. It deserves every single penny we paid, we enjoyed this tour a lot and looking forward for opportunity to come again!
