The Cachelote sail boat and crew were magnificent! Our guide Juan was incredibly enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The itinerary is excellent as it really takes in the diversity of each of the islands and the amazing wildlife. The hotel in Quito (Hotel Vieja Cuba) and the staff were also excellent.

Walking through the rainforest one day and 4800m above sea level the next - Ecuador really is a land of huge contrasts providing a fortnight of amazing sights and experiences. As well as your travel essentials, take an open mind and enjoy!

For a small country Ecuador offers so much, mountains, rainforest jungle, coastal plains, cultural, wildlife and fantastic scenery. It often seems that people overlook Ecuador in favour of the more showy blousy delights of Brazil or the world famous sites of Peru and just stay for a couple of days on their way to Galapagos, well that is a real shame as they are missing a load. I would quite happily go back and do this trip over again.

Just back from this trip. Wish we were still on board the Cachalote. What an amazing experience! The time in Quito is limited but we managed to pack in lots, the Teleferico, Old Town, La Bascilica, Botanical Gardens, Quito is easy to get around, taxis are cheap. All transfers were very well managed by the local agents Enchanted Expeditions. The boat, Cachalote 1 was fantastic. Great crew, all friendly. El Capitan ran the ship well. Pedro made exceptional food both quality and amounts from his little galley. Safety was taken seriously. The Galapagos Islands were all and much more than expected. Every day was different, packed full of activities and experiences.

If you are reading this then the answer is YES! Yes you should go to the Galapagos islands, it is even more special and magical than you could ever imagine. For me it was a dream come true and the best experience of my life so far. I would 100% recommend this trip and Exodus, so much so that I have already started saving to do it all over again!

A wonderful experience packed full of varied activities and wildlife. The small schooner type boat seems like a much better way to see the Islands than the larger cruiser style boats. Every Island is so different in terms of the specific wildlife hosted, and indeed the snorkelling at all the different locations also provided varied trips. The 'navigation' between the islands can be a little bumpy, personally I loved every minute of it but if you are wanting a smoother ride then maybe a larger boat would be better for you.
