Our island guides were great.Yanni in particular was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Galapagos islands that she really managed to convey just how very special they are.She had a lovely manner about her.Erika too was a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide , without them both we would have missed so much. Miriam accompanied us throughout & again she was a wonderful guide She really looked out for the group, gave us great recommendations & was extremely knowledgeable about her city/country. Equador is a great choice of country to visit as it is so varied in landscape & climate, something for everyone I would say.

If you are reading this you have already seen the brochure description and want to know if it is all true. The trip does cover a huge variety of ground both in miles, climate and altitude so yes you really do need everything from hat and gloves to sun block! I think packing for this trip was possibly the most challenging. Most of the walking wasn't challenging but on a couple of longer ones there are options to opt out or cut short so no pressure there. Not much relaxation but some free time to shop and have the occasional cocktail, lots of travel. You will see spectacular scenery, meet interesting and knowledgeable people, seal lions having a nap in the street, iguanas a plenty. If you have a special bird interest check the nesting season to give you the best chance. We saw Frigate birds displaying to females but not the season for blue foots. The sea was warm enough but keep moving. The estimated cost of food was fairly accurate but food and drink can vary a lot. There are posh eateries with expensive cocktails, but also well priced, no frills food with a bottle of beer. ATMs relatively easy to find in a number of locations. Wifi connection was good. Hope this helps, go ahead and book!

A superb trip - an Exodus classic

A very comprehensive tour of the Galapagos, staying on all four of the populated islands. We saw a great deal of wildlife both in and out of the water. The snorkelling was superb - a vast number of fish, turtles and sharks. The land based activities were also fascinating, whether exploring volcanic landscapes or conservation centres. The pace was perfect, with a little time to explore the generally superb local restaurants. As you might expect, seafood is excellent, plentiful and relatively inexpensive. Surprisingly the islands have a few microbreweries producing exceptional ales!! The hotels were all comfortable and very friendly - we had one night in an exceptionally noisy room but our guide arranged to move us the following day, so not a big issue. The boat transfers and trips were exclusive to our group and of a very high standard - particularly on the last full day.

diverse and exciting adventure

this trip proves you dont need a multi country trip to see it all! volcanoes, cloudforests, the amazon jungle, highlands of the andes... the diversity of what you see in two weeks is unrivalled. often seen as the great Galapagos's less exciting mainland counterpart...this could not be further from the truth. Be wowed by science experiments only possible on the equator, visit local communities in the amazon rainforest and experience the Andean cultures. i would recommend this trip to anyone with a spirit for adventure, who loves to be outdoors experiences lots of different landscapes flora and fauna.

Ecuador - What a wonderful trip

Ecuador is a wonderful country to visit. This trip had it all as we visited the famous cloud forest, the highlands, the volcano Chimboratzu, the Amazon forest, Cuenca, the Casaj national park and finally the mangrove glades. I would highly recommend going. The hotels were very comfortable and traditional. Our guide, Etiel, was excellent and imparted lots of useful information. The highlight of my trip was on Chimboratzu taking the pony instead of walking. I'm not sure I would have made it without that help. And then in Banos our guide offered to take us to the thermal baths at 5am. It was still dark when we went and the nearby mountain waterfall was lit up. Very magical. I was the only one to take up this very kind offer! Others definitely missed out (from my point of view). We decided to have two extra days in Quito at the start of the trip to get over jet lag and to familiarise ourselves with the city. One couple also did the same but had three days. They booked a guided tour each day. This is well worth considering as the additional accomodation cost is very small.

Amazing adventure

What an amazing experience. We swam with sea lions, penguins, sharks and turtles. We even saw seahorses. The fish were also spectacular, so don't take those for granted. The hiking was good although some bad weather for us but the views were sensational. If you were thinking of booking this trip, just do it, you won't be disappointed.
