A very good trip by Explore, full on, it was a pity about the aircraft company Europa. A rubbish company, I wouldn't go with them again. Their short hall was OK, just a pity they had reclining seats, they need to take a look at easyJet for short hall. But the long haul was rubbish, the food was yuck, which was served as soon as the aircraft took off. Then I never saw a steward/stewardess again until it was about to land 10 hours later with a cup of coffee. Other airlines would have been serving water, coffee AND biscuits throughout the whole flight. Yes I WILL go with Explore again but not Air Europa

Our tour leader, Diego Torres was fabulous. His knowledge of his country and wildlife was immense and his passion for Ecuador infectious. He looked after all of us and met all our needs and gave us all the indepth information we required to enjoy this holiday

Excellent tour with great leader (Miriam). It was good to see Ecuador (mainland) for a week before going to the Galápagos Islands. The mainland is very pretty and also has some great wildlife.

This trip was simply superb! The split of one week Ecuador mainland and one week Galapagos Islands was ideal.....and provided a huge variety of landscapes, flora and fauna and culture....not to mention food! The hotel accommodation was at times very good indeed and at other times perfectly adequate. The pace was very well judged, too....a good mix of adventure and relaxed exploring. Also, few long days travelling, considering the amount of places we got to see. The transport was excellent.....a very good sized bus was always available. But mostly, I want to congratulate the Ecuadorian guide, Myriam Gallegos, for her passionate enthusiasm, her superb subject knowledge - in Spanish and English - her caring and helpful approach to all our needs, her organisational skills and her sense of fun and adventure. She made the trip really memorable!

This was one of the best "Discovery" tours I have been on with Explore. It felt like a real adventure, with the excursions to the volcanoes Cotopaxi and Chimborazo and the boat trips on the Napo river, a tributary of the Amazon. Our tour leader, Fabian, and driver, William, were both excellent. The accommodation was generally very good, with the exception being the Riobamba hotel. I find the comments by a previous reviewer about the current power outages in Ecuador to be absurd. The outages were a mild inconvenience (to us - although I pity the Ecuadorian people) but there were absolutely no security or food safety issues as a result. When I travel in (e.g.) South America I don't expect everything to be just like it is in my cosy Western European home! My one criticism of this trip is that there were far too many shopping stops that were thinly disguised as "cultural visits" - I counted at least ten of these. The number should be at least halved. I mean, what on earth do painted balsa wood parrots have to do with the culture of Ecuador? Or carved nut kernels, for that matter?
