While it is widely known as the birthplace of renaissance art, Florence was also incredibly important for European politics and economy during the same period. Moreover, the development of Florentine renaissance and neoclassical architecture changed the faces of all major European cities. Florence isn’t just the birthplace of renaissance art. It is in fact the birthplace of modern European culture.

The tour was wonderful. The itinerary was fantastic. Hotels were first class! Our guide was absolutely brilliant. Our driver was great! As the group leader, however, who promoted the tour and brought 12 women from the United States, a geography where Back Roads is not represented strongly, I would personally never organize a trip with your company again,

Wonderful visiting the historic villages, towns. My first experience of Italy and it was brought to life by the most endearing tour guide Michele M. I was one of the women in the “60 and me” and we had a very fun time being together on this trip.

This was a great tour well paced and ticked all our boxes. Lots of walking getting to those walled cities mostly uphill and on cobblestone streets. The BR experiences are great and not too touristy. Always family run businesses. Especially enjoyed the wine tastings and cheese tastings in Pienza.

Our recent bike trip from Venice to Florence was terrific. Viewing the countryside by bike was fun. Each days ride was different. I thought day 2 was the hardest. My sit bones were very sore despite the bike shorts. it was a bumpy gravel long ride. Day 3 and on out got easier.

An exceptional tour offering artisan tastings, cooking and samplings all around Tuscany. Boutique accommodation that gives you an authentic experience in the heart of the region. Saverio, our tour guide, was absolutely amazing, very knowledgeable and caring. He truly looked after us to give us the best experience ever!

Super holiday! The walks through the beautiful Tuscany countryside with Cypresses, Olive trees and vines will live with me for ever. Itinerary was perfect with challenging walks and time to relax afterwards. The accommodation was excellent, breakfasts substantial and wine tastings informative and very enjoyable. Definitely 5*!
