What we saw and what we did led by our expert guide was very special. It was the sheer variety of the experiences. The stand out being the walk up to the Tigers Nest Monastery. But for me the walks we did through villages where we saw real life going on was just as special.
Bhutan is a special place, full of wonderful people, surrounded by amazing scenery. Accommodation there was of a very high standard. The icing on thd cake was seeing Mt Everest as we flew to Kathmandu.
A special holiday full of great experiences.

Excellent tour where close encounters with a variety of animals, most notably Mountain Gorillas, are virtually guaranteed (with all the planning involved, you'd be extremely unlucky not to see Gorillas in Bwindi).
On the tour you also find out about the efforts made in conserving these rare animals and how that sometimes impacts on the human residents in the area both positively and negatively. The formation of several community groups, particularly focused on providing education and sustainable employment, particularly for women, is also shown

While crossing the icy waters of the Greenland Sea, our onboard experts will share their knowledge of the region's plants, animals and history, preparing you for your landings. This was my first trip as a single person and I had a fabulous time. The group of 12 (four couples and four singles) really gelled and were very friendly, supportive and fun. The itinerary was very good, with at least one specific thing to do, see or visit each day. The high points were the tea plantation, the spice farm, the cookery evening, the wonderful scenery and the houseboat . The accommodation was generally very good, but the homestay was too basic to be an enjoyable experience. It didn't feel as though we were guests in someone's home, it felt more like a commercial exercise (eg the host talked of building a hotel next year to accommodate more guests). The food was excellent in most places with some well-chosen restaurants/snack bars, and plenty of choice for vegetarians, but I was a little disappointment at the street food experience, which was just selecting one cold, precooked snack (such as samosa, vada or fritter.) I was anticipating some freshly cooked food (while we looked on) such as rice and dahl or pani puri. Also, I thought that the purpose of visiting the market was to select spices and vegetables to use later in our cookery evening, but there wasn't an obvious link. Our guide, Sree, was flexible, knowledgeable and very accommodating of all our needs.
Overall a really great experience with a great group of people. Will definitely use Explore again for another adventurous trip.

This trip was incredible, definitely not one to miss. The landscape and views are like no other and the people are so friendly. Bimal, Prem and Bhim looked after us so well.
Some notes
- Bring or plan to change currency into Nepalese Rupees, the trip notes advised USD but rupees was preferred everywhere.
- No need for extra snacks. The food and variety of options (even at the top) were great and more than enough, including afternoon tea and biscuits!
- Make sure you pack for the cold. The teahouses have no form of heating, even in the common areas so at the higher camps it can be hard to stay warm after walking.
- Highly recommend a trip to the hot springs, very much welcome after long days walking. Make sure you pack your swimming costume in your trek bag and not in your main luggage
- Bring something to read or an activity for the afternoons. Ascending is gradual due to acclimatisation meaning there are quite a few afternoons without much to do, our group enjoyed lots of Uno!
- Trekking poles were a big help
- The drive to Pokhara is long, though unavoidable as flying in Nepal is a European blacklist. Bring travel sickness tablets if you're susceptible.

Just returned from the Loire Valley cycling trip with Explore and had a fantastic time. Our group leader, Erwin, was absolutely top notch—knowledgeable, fun, and great at fixing bikes on the fly (a very handy skill on a trip like this!). He was incredibly responsive to any issues, whether it was saddle woes or a hotel hiccup—he always did his best to sort it out quickly and with a smile.
The tour itself was stunning. The route took us through beautiful countryside, charming towns, and past jaw-dropping châteaux. There was also plenty of time in the afternoons and evenings to explore off-bike, enjoy a glass (or two) of local wine, and soak in the atmosphere.
We did hit a bit of a heat wave, but that’s just luck of the draw. Erwin made sure we took lots of water and shade breaks to keep the group comfortable, which was much appreciated.
The hotels were as expected—nothing fancy, nothing awful. Some rooms were quite warm due to the unusual heat, but fans were provided and that helped.
We were called the "guinea pig group," as this was Explore’s first time running this particular tour in quite a while. That said, it was an excellent experience, and with Erwin fine-tuning the itinerary along the way, I imagine it’ll be even better for the groups that follow.
