day 1Join trip in Amman

Our tour of Jordan starts in Amman, one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. Home to almost half of Jordan's population, Amman is a city of contrasts, where the ancient and the modern collide. Get lost in the bustling souks of downtown, where you'll be tempted by falafel and baklawa stalls, or visit the hillside Roman Theatre for a taster of the city's varied history.

There are no activities planned for today, so you\ re free to arrive in Amman at any time. If you\ d like an airport transfer, you'll need to arrive at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM), a 30-minute drive from our hotel.

Due to most flights arriving late in the evening, our tour leader will meet you for a welcome meeting the next morning. You'll find the meeting information on the notice board at the hotel reception.

My daughter and I have been planning a trip to Egypt for years and decided to add on a trip to Jordan right before we booked. This trip did not disappoint, our guides in both countries were incredible. They shared cultural, historical and religious knowledge with us that led to a greater understanding of not only the history of both of these amazing countries but also of the people that live in them now. All of the destinations on our trip wowed us, and being in a group of only 4 we were able to ask questions and learn so much from our guides. Even though we traveled at a time of political unrest in the region we never once felt unsafe. Staying at a diverse assortment of accommodations also allowed us some unique experiences. We created memories that will last a lifetime and it doesn't get better than that.

The trip does what it says - Petra, Pyramids, and the Valley of the Kings - three bucket list destinations in one trip. Plus visiting Sinai as an unusual extra. The guides for each country were extremely knowledgeable on the history of their country, and each went to great detail in their explanations of the sites. The tour had the usual Explore mix of sightseeing and activities, with some free time, and my only disappointment was that the 2 days spent in Dahab were at a luxury resort, full of tourists and swimming pools, too far away from the town to walk and explore it. Petra, Cairo and Luxor were much better from that point of view. This trip has not yet proved to be a popular one, which surprises me. I found these countries to be perfectly safe and welcoming, and they need responsible tourism.
