Gokyo and Everest Base Camp Trek

This picturesque trek explores the pristine and beautiful Gokyo region and will later join the famous Everest Base Camp trek via the Cho La Pass, taking you to the foot of the world’s tallest mountain – Mt. Everest (8,848 m).

If you are looking for a trek with beautiful scenery, great trails, and memorable adventure, the Gokyo and Everest Base Camp trek is for you. The trek includes a visit to the village of Gokyo which is situated next to one of the 5 Emerald lakes which the Gokyo region is famous for. You will also be hiking to Gokyo Ri (5,357 m) which offers one of the most amazing panoramic views of the Himalayan landscape including majestic peaks such as Cho Oyu (8,201 m), Mt. Everest, and Mt. Makalu (8,481 m).

After exploring the splendid Gokyo region you will be crossing the Ngozumpa glacier arising from Mt. Cho Oyu. The Ngozumpa Glacier is the longest glacier in Nepal and while it may look daunting and risky, it is not safe to traverse across this massive glacier. You then cross the Cho La Pass (5,368 m) which will take you from the Gokyo region into the Everest region. Having entered the Everest region, you will soon arrive at the famous Everest Base Camp with lots of tented camps.

Another highlight of the trek is the view from Kala Patthar (5,643 m), the highest point of this trek. Kala Patthar offers breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, the Khumbu Glacier, Nuptse, and other majestic peaks in the Khumbu region.

Trek was changed to EBC only without the Gokyo Loop due to personal difficulties Reviewed Tour: Gokyo and Everest Base Camp trek

“Trek was highly frequented but still quite difficult for us due to minor personal ailments, starting with a feverish cold (2 members) and tooth aches (one member) intestinal problems (2 members) and high altitude effects (one member). Thus the originally planned Gokyo & EBC Trek was modified to just the EBC trek. allowing for 16 days in total from Kathmandu to EBC and back to Kathmandu.”

Everst Base Camp and Chola - Absolutely Amazing Reviewed Tour: Everest base camp - Chola pass- Gokyo trek

“I completed Everest Base Camp and Chola pass in April 2016. The whole trip was 19 days after 2 days in Kathmandu our group of 4 flew to Lukla and started to trek to EBC. There were no delays in airport and in about 2 hours from arrival to airport we were in Lukla. The trek was a bit challenging as there were steep climbs. The trek was very scenic, but the path was tough. We stayed overnight at Phakding and then proceeded to Namche Bazaar, which is close to 3400 mts, we stayed there for 2 days for acclimatization then proceed further to Tengbouche, Dingbouche and stayed there for an acclimatization day, then we went to Lobuche and finally to Gorakshop ( closest tea house to EBC). Once we reached Gorakshop we had small snack and proceeded to EBC, it took us about 2 hrs once at EBC we took many pictures, spoke to some people, wondered around and started our walk back. Next morning we climbed Kalapattar that offers amazing view of surrounding mountains!!!! After our breakfast we started our way back to Lobuche and to Chole pass that took us several days. After Chola Pass we continued to reach Gokyo Ri and desended back to Namche (this took several days) and back to Lukla.”

“Il Trekking è stato meraviglioso, un pò faticoso in certe giornate ma ne è valsa decisamente la pena visto i fantastici paesaggi che abbiamo avuto la fortuna di ammirare. Abbiamo goduto di condizioni meteo perfette per tutto il viaggio tranne che per un giorno in cui ha nevicato molto rendendo il percorso un pò più difficile ma comunque suggestivo. Le strutture utilizzate per il pernottamento sono spartane ma confortevoli e i pasti di buona qualità.”

“Chhatra at Nepal Eco Adventures did an amazing job organizing a spectacular 24-day trek from Jiri to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo. Ram and Santosh, our trek guides, were fantastic and went out of their way to ensure we were safe and happy at all times. Highly recommended.”

“We greatly enjoyed our trek, as well as our tour of Kathmandu. Our guide was very gregarious and knowledgeable, and both our guide and porter adapted well and without any complaints to our desire to visit both Gokyo Lakes and Kala Patthar, despite the closure of Cho La due to snow. We ended up hiking two extra days' worth of distance without increasing the total duration of our trek.”

“We all around loved our trek in the Everest region. Chaatra was there to greet us in Kathmandu and Ram and Thukpa were our guides for 12 days. Even though winter had not quite left the Himalayas when we were there (March 2015), everything went smoothly. We acclimatized slowly so we did not get altitude sickness and were healthy throughout the trek. Our guide Ram knew the region, trails, and teahouses well. He spoke English well and explained which peaks were which and answered all our questions. Thukpa, our porter, was strong and patient. He didn't even complain when we had to change routes (Cho-La pass was closed due to snow, but we still wanted to see both Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes. We appreciated the flexibility in our schedule, which allowed us to go faster when it made sense to. Overall, I would give Nepal Eco-Adventures and unreserved recommendation.”

“We had a 23 day during hike in the Everest Region. Thanks to our guide of the Nepal eco adventure we understood a lot more about the region and then people then we would have without a guide. The guide was very conscience about hygienic situation in the kitchen of the lodges and about our health. No one of our group suffered altitude sickness or diarrhea. Nepal eco adventure was very helpful for other small trekking (Pokhara, Chitwan) and overall tips.”
