About Kilisa Tours & Safaris

We are a Tanzanian company comprising of professionals who are pioneers of African safaris, mountain climbing, wildlife safari, cultural tours, beach holidays & the hospitality industry.

Our company mission is to provide quality services and professional attention to each and every client at a reasonable cost.

”Kilisa Tours & Safaris” is completely Tanzanian-owned and operated, and can offer the best value for your money. We utilize our natural resources in a sustainable manner for present and future generations.

Why Book With Kilisa Tours & Safaris

• Our packages include portable emergency Oxygen supplies (for emergency use only) on all hiking tours. • We supply an important medical first aid kit (for emergency use only) with every booking, on both the 'standard' and the 'superior' packages. • All of our chief guides carry a pulse Oxi-meter. (A pulse Oxi-meter is a small device that clips onto one's finger to measure oxygen levels in the blood – a hiker who is struggling to acclimatize to higher altitudes will normally have a lower blood-oxygen reading.) • All of our packages include Kilimanjaro Rescue Team (managed by KINAPA). • We can offer extended itineraries for extra acclimatization on the mountain – it is even possible to extend the duration of an ongoing hike (subject to additional costs and availability).

Seven-Day Kilimanjaro Climb: Machame Route trip - alternative tour available
Join us on this seven-day, guided trip and reach the highest point in the African continent. The Machame route, also called the 'whiskey route', is one of the most popular routes used to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and our favourite as well. This route also has one of the highest summit success rates given the topography and nature of the route, which allows climbers to trek high and sleep low, hence making it a more favorable route for acclimatization. In addition to higher chances of summit, the Machame route also offers some of the most spectacular scenery along the way to the top. It starts on the southwestern side of the mountain and proceeds steeply north, traversing the Shira Plateau and eventually joining Shira and Lemosho routes right after the Shira Cave Camp. Although travelers can complete their journey to the top and back in six days using this route, adding a day more to the itinerary like we have done is recommended for the sake of acclimatisation.

Six-Day Kilimanjaro Climb: Machame Route trip - alternative tour available
Seeking an ascent that balances adventure with acclimatization? The Six-Day Kilimanjaro Climb: Machame Route—popularly known as the Whiskey route—offers an exhilarating trek for young adults and experienced travelers alike. This route’s topography allows trekkers to “climb high and sleep low,” significantly boosting summit success rates. Traverse diverse landscapes—lush rainforest, the sweeping Shira plateau, and dramatic alpine vistas—before joining other classic routes for the final push. While this trek can be completed in six days, a seventh day is often recommended to enhance acclimatization and rest before the final ascent. The unique selling point: Machame’s combination of spectacular scenery and strategic acclimatization, making it the preferred choice among serious climbers eager to conquer Kilimanjaro in style.

Ten-Day Kilimanjaro Climb: Northern Circuit trip - alternative tour available
The Northern Circuit route is the most up-to-date and the longest route to Mount Kilimanjaro, which also makes it the best route to the summit of Africa's highest peak. Join us on this ten-day, guided trip to the top of the iconic mountain through one of the safest routes. The trail starts at the Londorossi Gate on the western side of the mountain and turns north on reaching close the Lava Tower, subsequent to its intersection with the Shira Plateau. It then circles clockwise from Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp to School Hut before summiting the mountain from the east. Please note that two nights' accommodation, one night each before and after the climb, is included in the tour price. For more details, please scroll down to the itinerary section.

Seven-Day Kilimanjaro Climb: Rongai Route trip - alternative tour available
The Rongai route is the only trail that starts from the northern, or Kenyan, side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Because of its remote location, this route offers trekkers a relatively unspoilt wilderness experience whereby climbers can see large wildlife like antelopes, elephants and buffalos. Additionally, since the northeastern side of the mountain receives significantly less moisture than the southern slopes, climbers are less likely to encounter rain and there is a high chance of enjoying clear, unclouded views of the mountain. Join us on this seven-day, guided journey to the top of Africa through the route less taken. We will pick you up on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and drive you to your hotel in Moshi. Your journey starts on the second day with a drive from Moshi to Marangu Park Gate. The trek starts in earnest from the Rongai trailhead. Ascend to the top via Simba Camp, Kikelewa Cave, Mawenzi Tarn Camp and Kibo Hut. Although the Rongai route is flatter than other Mount Kilimanjaro routes, the push to the summit from Kibo Hut is steep and follows the same path taken by those using the Marangu route. Once you have summited the mountain, the descent is made through the Marangu route. Please note that the tour price also includes two night's accommodation in Moshi, one night each before and after the climb. For more details, please scroll down.

Eight-Day Kilimanjaro: Machame Route trip - alternative tour available
Ready to tackle Africa’s highest summit in classic style? The Eight-Day Kilimanjaro: Machame Route trip is designed for those who crave both a challenge and breathtaking mountain vistas. Known as the “Whiskey Route,” Machame is prized for its scenic diversity and sense of adventure—appealing to experienced trekkers or fit travelers eager for an unforgettable climb. Over eight days, you’ll pass through a sequence of camps—New Shira, Barranco, Karanga, Barafu, and Crater—each offering unique perspectives and terrain. The Machame Route’s uneven paths and elevation shifts make it more demanding than some alternatives, but the reward is a deeply immersive trekking experience. Five-Day Kilimanjaro Climb: Marangu Route trip - alternative tour available
Ready for the challenge of a lifetime? The Five-Day Kilimanjaro Climb: Marangu Route is a trekking adventure that calls to determined climbers and adventurous spirits. Known as the ‘Coca Cola’ route, Marangu is unique in offering hut accommodations rather than tents, but don’t be fooled—this trek to the summit is no easy feat. Begin at Marangu village, hiking through lush rainforest, heath, and moorland into the stark grandeur of the alpine desert, before reaching the arctic zone at Kilimanjaro’s peak. Though the route can be completed in five days, an extra acclimatization day at Horombo Huts is highly recommended for those less familiar with high-altitude trekking. The Marangu Route’s distinct advantage is the comfort of hut lodging—a rare convenience on Africa’s tallest mountain. For trekkers seeking both a physical test and a touch of comfort, this trip package is the perfect summit solution.
