Excellent trip with a fantastic guide Tudor - who was very knowledgeable about his country, wildlife, history in fact everything in the itinerary. Varied itinerary and had something for everyone in the group which made for a happy group, guide and trip. We felt that the 60Euro charge for the additional bear trip was over priced compared to everything else we purchased whilst on the trip. We did see bears (5 in total) on 2 occasions but not from the bear hide. A mother with 3 cubs and a juvenile-estimated to be 4years old by the guide. All 3 castles we visited were different, interesting in their own way with Tudor providing information/history to the group as part of the guided tour. The optional (free) morning walk through the woods and onto the hillside was beautiful with many wildflowers in bloom. Sturdy walking shoes are needed, poles if needed were available-free of charge. Limited choice for vegetarians Tudor was on hand to suggest meal alternatives-still vegetarian. Casa Zada guest house was perfect with a wonderful home cooked meal on arrival. The hosts were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. 4 of us followed the path up the hillside for an excellent view over Brasov-took just over 1 hour. A very enjoyable 5 day trip-made extra special by Tudor, Sando the driver and our 11 friends. Thank you.

This is the 10th Explore holiday, we have covered places like Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, India and this just covers 5 holidays. These are not for everyone, as some are very full on, but the two Balkan trips were easy, although some of this group had not read the itinerary properly and this was a bit too much for them! The Cuba and South America were what I call, sanitised back packing, as sleeping out in the open and you can have very early starts, around 4 am and late finishes. However, you really see the place and interact with the local people. This is why we love Explore tours. If you want total comfort and not really interact, then Saga or like is for you, as you do have to rough it on some trips. One trip in particular was India, two days going up the Ganges on a wooded raft, inches from the water and sleeping on the bank at night with the snakes and wild dogs, just an amazing experience, and you know you are alive! Another was in the jungle of Cuba, no tent, just under the stars, but I did get attacked by the smallest ants in the night, but still a fantastic experience, one I won’t forget! Our tour guides have all been very good, but on this trip, Constantin went beyond the norm. The only criticism on this trip was no local experts and Constantin had to do it all, which makes it very difficult for him to become an expert in every area, town etc.

Romania surprised me in many good ways, sufficient infrastructures, kind people and beautiful landscapes, and what can be better than experiencing all these on two wheels! Speaking of the crew, Raz and Geo, what a dream team! They led us to the most enjoyable itinerary and kept everyone safe and sound. They had done an up and beyond job accommodating everyone’s needs, at all time, and that’s not a small thing given 11 of us with wide range of fitness and physical capability. Highly recommend people come to see Romania and do it on two wheels.

I really enjoyed the Balkans Tour. However, it was rather rushed. We covered a vast distance. Perhaps we could have stayed for 2 nights at each place. There were some places where we did stay for 2 nights, and this allowed for some time to 'breathe'.

This trip was travelling through 8 countries and exploring exactly as laid out in the description. These countries were a surprise and delight to visit for me. It is a little off the most touristy places in the world, with such historical significance. I would recommend this tour. Ps…not many of my friends even realize whatsoever how the former Czech Republic reformed. Most interesting.

The itinerary was an excellent history lesson about how Yugoslavia broke up in the early 90s. Each and every stop was interesting and the local tour guides were excellent. The tour never got boring and all of the cities were different. Our Tour Director, was 5-star! For the most part, the hotels were good to excellent and the meals were also mostly very good. I highly recommend this tour.
