You’ll dive into the country’s history with guided visits to the Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum, and Notre-Dame Cathedral, then cruise through the lush waterways of the Mekong Delta with a home-cooked lunch in Ben Tre. After the buzz of the city, kick back in Mui Ne with three days to relax or explore the sand dunes, Fairy Stream, and seafood delights.
Welcome to Ho Chi Minh City. On arrival, you will be collected at Tan Son Nhat International Airport and transferred to your hotel (check in is from 14:00). Your first evening in the city also known as Saigon is at leisure.
Saigon - officially known as Ho Chi Minh City - is Vietnam’s largest and most dynamic metropolis. As the country’s economic powerhouse, it combines modern energy with a rich and often turbulent history. Your guided sightseeing tour begins at the Reunification Palace, the former residence of the President of South Vietnam. Here, you will learn about the events leading up to the fall of Saigon in 1975 and the end of the Vietnam War.
You then visit the War Remnants Museum, established in September 1975 and originally named the Museum of American War Crimes. Its exhibitions include photographs, documents, and artefacts that record the human and environmental cost of the war, as well as displays of military vehicles such as planes, tanks, bombs, and helicopters.
Your final stop is the Notre-Dame Cathedral, a neo-Romanesque masterpiece built between 1877 and 1883 using materials imported from France. It remains one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks and a key centre of Catholicism in Vietnam. Please note: the cathedral is currently under renovation, so we will view it from the outside only. After today's tour, you will be transferred back to the hotel.
Ho Chi Minh City - Mekong Delta - Ho Chi Minh City. This morning, you travel south to the Mekong Delta for a full day exploring its maze of waterways and local cottage industries. On arrival in Ben Tre, board a river boat and make a stop at a traditional brick factory to see how clay bricks are moulded and fired using age-old methods.
You continue along the canal to visit a coconut processing workshop, followed by a family-run business where women weave traditional sleeping mats. There’s time to enjoy fresh tropical fruit and tea, and chat with the locals.
Leaving the waterways behind, take a motor cart (xe lôi) along quiet, shaded roads, passing rice fields and vegetable plots where farmers tend their crops. A home-cooked lunch is served with a local family in Ben Tre, offering a glimpse into rural life.
Afterwards, return to the water by row boat for a gentle cruise along palm-lined creeks. Later in the afternoon, you return to the pier, where your vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City - Mui Ne. It's time to leave Saigon as you are transferred to the beach resort of Mui Ne, famous for its sprawling sand dunes. The journey takes around 3.5 - 4 hours, and you will check in to your hotel on arrival.
You have three full days in Mui Ne to relax and enjoy this laid-back coastal retreat. The long, golden beach is perfect for unwinding with a swim, a book, or simply soaking up the warm sunshine. The town has a friendly, easy-going atmosphere, and the fresh seafood here is some of the best in Vietnam.
Many visitors to Vietnam flock to Mui Ne for an exhilarating quad bike ride across the region's sand dunes - you can travel there in an open jeep, another highlight with visitors. Other options include a visit to the nearby Fairy Stream, a shallow, winding waterway framed by unusual rock formations. The local fishing harbour is also worth a stroll, especially in the early morning when brightly painted boats return with the day’s catch.
Whether you choose to relax on the sand, enjoy water sports, or discover Mui Ne’s natural landmarks, these days are yours to spend entirely at your own pace.
Mui Ne - Ho Chi Minh City. Your tour comes to an end today. After breakfast and hotel check-out, a driver will collect you and take you back to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City for your onward flight.
