day 1 - Nairobi – Chogaria Gate (2,950 m)

Our Company representative / Guide will meet you in Nairobi at 6:30am and drive you to Chogoria town for lunch. Hear you will link up with other Crew members. Take a 4x4 drive to the edge of the bamboo forest 2480m. Once you reach there, you will start your trek through dense forests and head to Mount Kenya Chogoria Gate (2,950 m) above sea level. Stay overnight at the Meru Mount Kenya Chogoria Gate camp site inside the national park.

day 2 - Mount Kenya Chogoria Gate—Lake Ellis Campsite (3,540 m)

Have your breakfast and start off your trek up to the mountain at an easy pace. Visit the Nithi waterfalls and make your way to Lake Ellis for spectacular views of Mugi, Ithanguni and the Giants Billiards Table. Your trail will continue along the river near the road. Head upstream and take your lunch break along the river. Get some rest before continuing your hike to Lake Ellis Campsite (3,540 m). This route offers a secluded path away from the crowds. Stay overnight at Lake Ellis Campsite.

day 3 - Lake Ellis—Minto’s Camp (4,200 m)

After breakfast, your trek starts on off-the-beaten path and up the mountain. About three hours of hiking, you will join the tourist track and continue your journey on Chogoria route (4,100 m). Enjoy views over the Gorges Valley and head towards Ithanguni and the Northern Moorlands. Have your lunch at a small stream crossing and continue your trek to Minto’s Hut (4,200 m). Take some time to relax at camp. You can also choose to take a 10-minute short walk to the Temple—a 150 meters vertical cliff that gets its name from the position visitors often adopt when peering over the edge – they look as if they are praying. Stay overnight at Minto’s Hut.

An early night is recommended as you are attempting the summit next day.

day 4 - Minto’s Hut—Point Lenana (4,985 m)—Old Moses Camp

Today, your trek starts at 0300hrs. You will hike for about three hours to reach Point Lenana (4,985 m)—the hiker’s summit, to watch the sunrise. Descend to Shipton camp for breakfast.

After breakfast, continue your descent via Mackinder’s valley to the Old Moses camp (3,300 m). The descent is easy and offers ample time to enjoy the scenery before reaching camp. Dinner and overnight at Old Moses camp.

day 5 - Old Moses Camp—Nairobi

After breakfast, continue your descent to the Sirimon 9 Kms , 2.5 Hrs walk to Park gate. Our representative will meet you there and drive you to Nairobi.
