day 1 - Seoul Arrival

Welcome to Korea! You’ll be transferred to your hotel and have some free time. In the afternoon, you’ll receive information about the start of your tour.

day 2 - Seoul

The day begins with an early departure at 7:30 a.m. to the Cheorwon region, home to a section of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that separates North and South Korea. Upon arrival at 9:30 a.m., the group will explore the Second Tunnel, secretly constructed by the North Korean army and discovered in 1975. The journey continues to the Cheorwon Peace Observatory, which offers panoramic views of the DMZ and the first villages of North Korea. Inside, a small museum provides insight into the Korean War. The itinerary also includes a visit to the abandoned Woljeong-ri train station, followed by the Baek Ma Battle Memorial, commemorating the intervention of a French UN battalion during the conflict. The morning tour concludes with a visit to a local distillery that produces Makgeolli, Korea’s traditional rice liquor.

At 2:00 p.m., the group will depart from Cheorwon, returning to Seoul and arriving at the hotel around 4:00 p.m., where participants will have free time to relax.

In the evening, at 6:00 p.m., the group will meet the guide and take the modern and efficient Seoul Metro to City Hall, an architectural landmark shaped like a tsunami. Opposite City Hall, the Deoksugung Palace is beautifully illuminated at night, offering a perfect blend of Korea’s rich heritage and contemporary urban landscape. From there, a short walk leads to Myeongdong, South Korea’s largest and most vibrant shopping and entertainment district, whose name means “bright town.” Dinner will be included at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel via metro for an overnight stay.

Excellent

I took this tour with my 26-year-old daughter as a belated graduation gift and it turned out to be one of the best things we've done together. We both love Asian food, history, and culture, but neither of us wanted to deal with figuring out trains or language barriers. This tour was the perfect solution. Seoul was great. The subway system is clean and easy, and we loved how our guide gave us the confidence to use it ourselves. Seeing Deoksugung Palace and the tsunami-shaped City Hall was such a unique contrast. My daughter is into history, so the War Memorial really moved her. I was more fascinated by the traditional hanok homes in Jeonju. Busan was cool and coastal. That view of the ocean behind the shrine was unforgettable. The ferry to Japan was surprisingly relaxing. We played cards, had snacks, and watched the sea. Japan felt more spiritual to me. Miyajima and the Itsukushima Shrine were beautiful, and Hiroshima gave us a lot to think about. The hot springs at Dogo Onsen were so soothing after long days of walking. And I have to say that the bullet train ride to Tokyo? My daughter was giddy like a kid in Disneyland! We both agreed that the night at Mount Koya’s monastery was something we’ll remember forever. Quiet, peaceful, and a total change of pace. If you're thinking about bonding time with a loved one, this tour gives you experiences you’ll talk about for years.

Smooth, Scenic, and Superbly Organized I joined a 6-Day Marangu Route hike with Kilisa Tours, and the whole experience was seamless. The accommodations in the mountain huts were cozy, and the support staff made sure we were always comfortable. Our guide shared fascinating stories about the mountain s history and wildlife. Everything ran perfectly on schedule, and the company s attention to detail was impressive. I ve done many treks before, but Kilisa Tours stands out for their genuine care and world-class service. Couldn t have asked for more!
