Itinerary

Discover the enchanting kingdom of Bhutan on the "Highlights of Bhutan" tour—a 12-day journey through breathtaking valleys, sacred monasteries, and vibrant markets. Perfect for experienced travelers seeking a moderately active exploration, this small-group trip pairs cultural immersion with scenic adventure.

Your adventure begins in Paro, where historic dzongs and lively markets set the tone. Explore the pristine Haa Valley before heading to Thimphu, Bhutan’s tranquil capital. Here, delve into the world of traditional Thangka painting, visit the Folk Heritage Museum, and enjoy sweeping views from Sangaygang.

Venture to Punakha for a memorable hike to Chimi Lhakhang, passing through rice paddies and the charming Yuwakha Village. In Jakar, admire the Wangduephodrang Dzong and hike through forests to Tharpaling Monastery, immersing yourself in Bhutan’s serene natural beauty. Return to Punakha for another hike to Khamsum Yuelay Namgyal Chorten, revealing panoramic valley views.

The tour culminates with a visit to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery in Paro—a highlight for both spiritual seekers and outdoor enthusiasts. With comfortable hotels, group transport, and meals included, this tour package’s unique selling point is its harmonious blend of cultural learning and scenic trekking, offering a deep dive into Bhutan’s heritage and landscapes for the discerning explorer.

day 1Paro (arrival)

Welcome to Bhutan! Upon arrival in Paro, you will be met by our representative and taken to the weekend market, where vendors from throughout the region will arrive on Friday afternoon and continue to sell their goods until Sunday evening. This is a fascinating place to visit, where residents will jostle for the highest quality and cheapest vegetables and foodstuff. This is the only time that fresh produce will be available, and the shopping will be enhanced by your opportunity to catch up with the week’s latest gossip. After lunch in a local restaurant, you may visit the Paro Dzong and historic fortress which now houses the government administration offices and the district Monastic Body. Your guide will take you on a short hike down to the cantilever bridge, which is featured in the film ‘Little Buddha’. Your transport will pick you up from the other side of the river and take you back to Paro, where you may explore the town and then spend the evening at leisure.
