The route leads into Gokyo Valley, famed for its chain of crystal-clear lakes set against a backdrop of soaring peaks. A highlight is the sunrise ascent of Gokyo Ri (5,340m), one of the region’s best viewpoints, revealing sweeping vistas of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and more.

Along the way, you’ll savor close encounters with Sherpa culture and witness some of the world’s tallest mountains up close. This trek’s unique selling point is its combination of serene lakes, dramatic scenery, and the chance to summit a classic Himalayan viewpoint—an unforgettable trip for adventure seekers.

day 1 - Arrive in Kathmandu

Our representative will meet you at Tribhuvan International Airport on your arrival schedule. Then you will be transferred to hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at hotel. You can either rest or visit our office for gathering additional info about the trek. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition Team.

day 2 - Sightseeing of world heritage sites in Kathmandu

Note: It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. You can choose at least 3-4 places for a day sightseeing.

day 3 - Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Phakding

We take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, that takes around 45 minutes. From Lukla, our trek starts following a gentle climb through left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. The Dudh Kosi approaches as we pass along mani walls and arrive at a Ghat teahouse. The route continues along a small path with many climbs and descents following the left bank of Dudh Koshi to Phakding [2640m/8659ft]

day 4 - Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar

The trail from Phakding starts by crossing a stream and climbing up the terraced hill until we arrive at Bengar. We continue along the path with many ups and downs, we make a stop at the National Park Service where the park entrance fee is collected. As the mountain path zigzags uphill, we emerge at a ridge top rest area that offers excellent views high mountains. Our climb eases somewhat as the path goes along the pine forest to reach Namche Bazaar [3440m/11283ft].

day 5 - Rest at Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazaar has an abundance of lodges, tea shops and souvenir shops. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization at the high altitude before heading off towards Thame. For the acclimatization, you walk up to Khunde Hospital which was set-up by Sir Edmund Hillary, or a one hour walk up to the Syangboche at 3800 meters for enjoying the outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru.

day 6 - Trek from Namche Bazaar to Dole [4040m/13251ft]

From Namche, the route heads up all the way to Kumjung, a picturesque village which also has its own gompa at the top end of town. Here we have excellent views of Thamserku, Kantega and Ama Dablam. Soon after leaving Khumjung the trail climbs to a large chorten on top of a ridge. We trek along a steep downhill passing through Phortse Tenga and from there our trail climbs steeply towards Dole, through rhododendron and birch forest.

day 7 - Trek from Dole to Machhermo [4410m/13578ft]

From Dole you climb steadily along the side of the valley, where the small and thorny bushes give way to scrub juniper as the altitude increases. The trail passes many summer settlements, which are used when yaks are taken to these pastures to graze in the summer months. Ahead of us lies an excellent view of Cho Oyu, while back down the valley are the peaks of Kantega and Thamserku. This is a short day and we will arrive at Machhermo in time for lunch.

day 8 - Trek from Machhermo to Gokyo Lake [4750m/15580ft]

Today you head for the lakes at Gokyo. We begin to descend following the melt-water rivers of the Ngozumpa Glacier. We continue to climb a steep rocky incline into the valley, passing the first of the holy lakes. Soon we arrive at the second of the lakes, crossing the path which heads across the glacier to Cho La at 5420 meters. The third lake is known as Dudh Pokhari and on its eastern shore is the settlement of Gokyo.

day 9 - Rest day at Gokyo

Gokyo is a trade centre where the Sherpa people run lodges to provide the best services to the trekkers. Gokyo is situated by the side of Ngozumpa glacier, the longest glacier of Nepal. This day you can make a side trip to Fifth Lake via Forth Lake.

day 10 - Hike to Gokyo Ri & trek back to Machhermo

Gokyo Ri [5340m/17515ft] looms above the village on the northern edge of the lake and you leave camp just after first light, following a steep path up the hillside. As you climb, the summits of Everest, Lhotse and Makalu slowly come into sight and the view from the summit of Gokyo Ri itself, is one of the finest to be had in the Everest region - some say it is even better than that from Kala Patthar. After lunch, it is a short walk to the village of Machhermo [4150m/13612ft].

day 11 - Trek from Machhermo to Namche Bazaar

The trail gently descends to Dole and then starts descending steeply to Photse Tenga as we pass through dense rhododendron forests. Then the path immediately ascends steeply to Mongla Danda and gently descends up to Kyanjoma. From there, our trail follows small ups and down until we arrive back to Namche Bazaar for our overnight stay.

day 12 - Tek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla

The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay.

day 13 - Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu

Today we take an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Enjoy the scenic mountain flight after the wonderful trekking experience with Nepal Guide Treks. After landing at Kathmandu you will be transferred to the hotel. The world heritage sites inside Kathmandu, if not visited on the second day of the trip, can be visited on this day.

day 14 - Free Day at Leisure

You would surely like to see as much of Kathmandu as possible. An early start is practical to visit the temples of Kathmandu. Also, walking around the shopping area of Thamel is worth spending quality time. We will have a final meal together in the evening.

Annapurna Circuit

Unfortunately, due to weather conditions our trip to Gokyo Lake was canceled. Mr Prakash arranged in very short notice a new trek to Annapurna Circuit. In this way, we didn't lose too much time to still enjoy beautiful Nepal. Service provided by Nepal Guide Treks & Expedition was excellent. Everything was arranged nicely. No comments at all. Especially I want to thank our guide (Krishna Malla) and our porters (Birendra Malla and Tilak Malla) being such professional, nice, funny and friendly guys who helped us with everything during our trek.

Great Trekking Experience in Gokyo Lake Trek

We are direct flight from Thailand to Nepal. We pick up by hotel representative. then our trekking organized i.e. Nepal Guide Treks. We met Mr. Prakash Devkota(owner of Nepal Guide Treks), he told us about everything of Gokyo lake trek and also met with our guide, Krishna. We had a fantastic time on our trek to Gokyo lake. That was awesome trekking experience I ever had. From that height around 5000 m, we saw view of Mount Everest and other snow capped mountain. When he mentioned that was perfect time to visit the Gokyo lake and view of surround was stunning. Next day, we fly to the Lukla then we trek 5-6 hrs every day with various landscapes up to Gokyo Ri above 5340 meters sea level. When we saw sunrise view from Gokyo Ri, that was magnificent.Our guide and porter was cheerful and always smiling face. Everything went according to our itinerary. Without any complain in service provided to us by Nepal Guide treks. Thanks, NGT having a great teams and staff doing very well to us during trekking.

Fantastic Trekking Experience in Gokyo

The trek was more incredible and exciting than I imagined.The route is perfect for trekking and views of Gokyo lake, Mt. Everest and surrounded snow-capped mountains is breathtaking and awesome.Walking in different altitudes, It feels me like walking on different world, landscapes and terrian. Our Guide Sumek and Porter rabin helps a lot on this trekking. Sumek told us, Gokyo and its valley in detail.We know a lot of thing From our guide during Gokyo lake Trek. Highly Recommend Trip: Gokyo Lake Trek

Gokyo Lake Trek, One of the best treks I ever done. That was amazing and awesome trekking experience for me and also trekking above 5000 m that was the first time. I already trekking around in my home town Los angles area but not that much. The trek was done right at the first week of April and the weather was amazing. It is my first time trekking at a moderately difficult terrain and my guide - Anjan, concerned for me. He was very helpful and young man. Anjan show the great views and facts about of Gokyo valley and Everest region. To seeing the breathtaking image of my own eyes of Gokyo and also seeing close view of Mt. Everest and himalayan range. The trek was refreshing, inspiring and lifelong memory for me. It is my advice to everyone to do treks in Nepal at least once because it is certainly worth it. Nepal Guide Treks provides me best of services and arrangements. I didn't worry about anything during trek and Anjan manage everything to me in the trek.

Remoteness & Wilderness of Gokyo Valley

I visited a lot of countries in a past year but not yet Nepal.So I make my mind to visit Nepal with my Wife Sarah in 2017.Finally, I fulfill my wish to visit Nepal. This is my first time with my wife to visit Nepal. My friends recommend me to visit Gokyo valley Trek or Annapurna Circuit Trek to visit this place and company who can organize our Trip i.e. Nepal guide Treks also recommended by my friend.But, we choose a Gokyo Valley Trek to see To explore the remoteness and heaven of nature. So, Me and my Wife travel with our guide Dendi Sherpa and porter, on Gokyo valley.I amaze the view of surrounding area and highest mountain "Mount Everest" that was a beautiful moment for me.
