This was an excellent highlights tour. Hotels were brilliant, food top quality. Tour director and bus driver were both amazing.
I felt it was a good solid pace with a lot of nice variations in location. My only wish was perhaps start at Auschwitz instead of ending on it (a bit depressing) if possible.
It was amazing and so much to see. Transport great, Hotels excellent. Tour director very pleasant A very well organised tour. Thank you Trafalgar for a great tour.
This itinerary was amazing. We saw and did so much. Our Tour Guide, was the BEST. There were so many surprise and delights from the best rose petal jam paczki to the shots with gold flecks in them in Gdansk. The food was very good, the cities were just gorgeous. We could never have done and seen so much on our own.
The tour of Poland was well organized and included excellent sightseeing and exploring. Our Trafalgar rep - was wonderful, kind, helpful and full of information. Poland is such a a beautiful country! I highly recommend this tour.
It is an excellent itinerary. The only thing I wish is that we had a a few sleep in, as it becomes exhausting towards the end.
It was a perfect introduction to this beautiful country and its history. It made us want to travel there again.
The excursions were incredible! So fun and often educational too, I had a wonderful trip!
This trip was packed with so many great experiences and places! Highly recommend for anyone who wants to see as much Poland as possible. Be ready to walk at a leisurely pace in many truly awe inspiring places where history was made. The tour guide and driver were exceptional at their jobs and we all felt very taken care of the entire time.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip through Poland. The tour guide and driver were excellent. I see that they have changed the upcoming itinerary to include an extra night in Zakopane which is terrific as I did feel that one night wasn’t enough. This trip was packed with history and culture, a lot of walking, and a lot of information, which could be challenging for some people, but personally I loved it.
A great itinerary covering all the key locations/places that we wanted to see. Our only issue was 3 different days of long bus travel-too much time on bus and not much sightseeing other then the countryside. Our local expert tour guides were excellent value. Our tour director was very experienced and knowledgeable and got us around very successfully. Her only downside was a lack of one-on-one people skills. She had her moments of good interaction but gave the impression of ticking boxes to get the job done without too much genuine interest in the individuals
The Tour was good and provided a varied panorama of Poland, its history and culture. The Tour Director, whilst good at her job, was extremely standoffish from Australians. In fact, she barely spoke to us for the entire trip. Recommended for American clients only.
Perfect mix of history, music, and religion in a beautiful country. While the schedule was ambitious, it was necessary to cover what proved to be all significant aspects of this country.
5 hours in a coach with 1 rest stop is too tiring and unhealthy. Suggest train for long distances. Zakopane disappointing. Too many optional extras.
This trip was so much better than I expected. This was my first “ bus tour” and I can’t say enough about how well organized and enjoyable it was. Our guide, was absolutely amazing. She not only was very knowledgeable and full of history and facts, she was fun and planned amazing outings. I would definitely take a Trafalgar tour again! Looking forward to it!
Tour manager was one of the best I've ever had. Please read your documents, especially about tipping and be prepared to tip in zlotys for local guides. The schedule was very busy if you did all of the excursions. Tour manager is pretty good at selling you on them, but all are not for everyone. The ones with dinner or lunch included were great, and the food was terrific! The tour of the Jewish and Communist quarters included a very long, loud harangue about Soviet Communism, was not worth it. The rest were great. They do involve a lot of walking, and a lot of stairs (down) in the salt mine. The Auschwitz and salt mine tours are stacked -- there are groups in front of and in back of you, so you really have to keep up. I enjoyed the tour very much and would recommend it for anyone interested in Poland during and since WWII.
The itinerary is very packed giving a taste of the major Polish cities and sights. It is a good combination of historical sites as well as cultural experiences. My only note is that the itinerary provides very little free time in all the cities other than Krakow, so be prepared to be up with the sun and cover a lot of ground every day.
Everything was good with the trip. My only problem was lack of leg room in the bus. You have plenty of seats you should take some out, and spread the rest out. Besides that, I think the itinerary was good.
This itinerary on paper looks good but in practice doesn't allow a lot of down time for the participant. I feel as though some of the optionals were not really worth the cost and could instead be used as down time, while others were great. For example, the salt mine was fantastic, but the old Warclaw tour and the iron curtain and getto were both lacking and overly priced. I would also consider including some of the optionals as standards since so many people opted for them. I realize people want to see alot, possibly extending it by one day to allow a less urgent flow and a more relaxed pace allows you to see and appreciate your surroundings, especially if you paid a lot of euro for the option. The tour guide was great and looked out for us, the driver was excellent, and most city tour guides were good. A couple really rushed you through and didn't really give a good account. The pickup and at the airport was a no-show until I called to inquire but the drop off was great and on-time. The hotel choices were good and their locations as well (porterage really helped!!). Possible a little more flexibility on the meal options. Overall it was a good trip, albeit a little pricey.
Great cites and history lessons
Yes it was great
Poland surprised me how much I enjoyed this country.
So much history. Knowledgeable local guides. Delicious food served at a variety of family owned restaurants and farms. Hotels were very clean, comfortable and served amazing breakfasts.. The optional tours only added to the richness of the trip. While some may find them a bit pricey, I ask you: how do you put a price on a once in a lifetime experience? Kudos to for his safe driving. A special shout out to our guide ! He is passionate about his country, his faith and his people. So calm, very organized and a great sense of humor. Wonderful trip!
It was busy but without our guide moving us along we would not of been able to enjoy all of Poland. Our guide was the key to our beautiful tour by going out of his way to meet everyone’s needs. We did every additional tour and did not regret it once…. Thank you Mertec ♥️
Great tour! Tons of history, and beautiful scenery.
Excellent choice of places to go, hotels, and restaurants. The farm to table lunch experience was amazing. With the exception of Zakopane (we wanted more), time allotted for everywhere was fabulous. Experiences and sights seen amazing! Very organized tour. Poland is a must see! The tour director was amazing. No regrets about this trip. It misses a five mark because of total cost with excursions and transfers. It’s important to know transfers are not scheduled with your flights in mind so they may not work for you, if delayed you must pay for transfers, and there aren’t many excursions included (even intro to cities).. So the tour price can increase significantly if you love to see it all. I loved it even if not perfect, many things were!!!
My Polish neighbor glanced at the itinerary, and was very impressed. We really covered so much of Poland.
It was excellent! History and beauty combined. Never thought of visiting Poland but so glad I did. Salt mines incredible. You have to see this place to believe it exists. Food was really good especially the bread. I gained 4 pounds!
This trip exceeded my expectations! Poland is a beautiful country and our tour director did an outstanding job of bringing the country to life!
Very informative on history and a good itinerary.
If I'm rating the actual tour itself, it would definitely be 5 stars. The tour director and driver and all the local guides were excellent. I really liked the way we saw a couple of cities(Warsaw and Gdansk)which had been nearly totally destroyed in WWII, then a couple (Torun and Krakow) which had largely been spared that destruction. The one somewhat disappointing part was Zakopane. That was partly due to traffic delaying our arrival, nothing that is in Trafalgar's control, partly having only 1 night there. We had only about a hour of free time in Zakopane, just enough to ride the funicular railroad up and down, and frankly, the areas around the top and bottom of the funicular are tacky tourist traps. I think that there is more to Zakopane than that, but we didn't have time to explore. The walking tour and dinner were excellent though. Would a mountain village outside of Zakopane be an opportunity for a "Be my Guest" experience like we had at the cidery on the way from Warsaw to Gdansk? The main reason for giving only 4 stars for me though was not the actual tour, but the flights. I purchased tickets through Trafalgar, hoping that it would smooth things out and give me some instructions on current passport and security issues. I noticed that the fares were more than I could have gotten on my own, but also noticed the note that the fares Trafalgar charged were Not "Basic Economy" fares. So I figured it would be worth the money. But my flights sure felt like Basic Economy, seats way back in the rear of the plane with minimal legroom, Group 5 boarding, nothing to indicate anything other than Basic Economy experience. I was unable to get electronic boarding passes for the Lufthansa flights between Frankfurt and Warsaw, either online or at the airport kiosks. Most distressing was that the flight from Denver to Frankfurt used a "remote gate." Which means that they dropped us of in the middle of the apron and bussed us to the terminal, where there was not any one in sight who could direct me to where I needed to go, in particular where I had to go to check in for the flight to Warsaw. I had to ask 2 pairs of German police and someone at a security screening terminal before I finally got to where I needed to be to check in for Lufthansa. Good think I had 3 hours for it, I needed the time. Some help with connections for those of us who are not "seasoned travelers" would have helped justify the higher airfare.
This was a great itinerary. The European Solidarity Center taught me a lot about the history of the Polish worker's struggle against the Polish communist government at the time. The optional tour of Westerplatte in Gdansk; also extremely informative. Loved the salt mine tour in Krakow! Amazing work! The polka party in Zakopane was terrific fun!
The optional extra were. In excess of 50% of the cost of the trip. The tour director constantly spoke about the tips and to give him a good rating The included itinerary was rushed so that there was time for the paid Optional. For the first time the Tour Director included global travel rewards drinks on the itinerary and make it out to be Compulsory item. It was a sales pitch, so I had to cut my free time short for that nonsense. No insights of value add from the Tour Director. Polite person but no value add. I'm included to say that all he did was count the people on the bus but one day he had the bus door closed and ready for departure before the departure TIME. This as for an included it - I never said I won't be joining, he made sure the people who were doing the optional experience were on the buss. I did this tour on my own, all that Trafalgar did was book the hotel and transport me As for the Optional extras, it was paramount to robbery in that the prices were double the actual price. There was no Poland specific gift for return guests, did the TD pocket the money? He complained about getting less tips due to the small group. .
The Best of Poland tour packs in a LOT for the punch. We had a fantastic tour guide and driver - so the whole experience was fantastic. All of the excursions are fantastic, it will be hard to pick and choose. The hotels were lovely and the food was yummy! A++
Excellent way to see the country. We got to explore on our own and yet had the option of touring with a local guide. It was a fast paced trip, but in order to see everything, we had to be "on the move". The food was fabulous, hotels beautiful, and great sense of humor with the tour director!
I felt that the trip gave such a great overview of the country and it's history. It taught me things I didn't even know I wanted to know! It gave me and my husband such a respect for Poland and her people.
Awesome
First of all, it was beyond wonderful. Second, I regret I have such a limited vocabulary to express how much we loved Poland and just how well Trafalgar's team cared for us. was our guy and he accommodated us in every way. I think the Polish countryside with its green fields, forests and beautiful Polish architecture gives Switzerland a real run for its money. We've been all over Europe and I think Poland may be the most surprising and pleasing of them all. With what the Polish people have suffered the past many hundred years, I believe that if they had a constitution and peace for a couple hundred years as has the United States, they could easily be a world power. But I think mostly, they are just too nice.
This tour is thoroughly enjoyable as it covers a lot of the great sights of Poland. Each city has its charms and the tour director, driver and local specialists all did a great job in enhancing the experience. Hotels were in good locations in most cities, less than 15 minutes' walk to the main square.
This was the trip I was hoping for… a bit of everything, well organized, and fun!
