About Siem reap
Siem Reap, Cambodia
Siem Reap (population: 903,000) is where it all began. Gateway to the Angkor Wat, Siem Reap has emerged as the go-to destination in Cambodia. It acts as a lifeline for those wanting to explore those exotic Angkor temples and is full of luxe hotels, excellent restaurants, world-class spas and backpacker haunts. The best way to spend your holiday in Siem Reap (apart from exploring ancient temples) is to visit the neighboring floating villages, cycling around town or checking out rare bird sanctuaries.
Don’t rush your journey in Angkor. Angkor needs time, patience, careful planning. Never hurry things and be flexible. The best time to visit Angkor is during sunrise as it offers the best photo ops. Spend the day checking out Angkor Wat, Ta Prohm and Angkor Thom and explore some of the smaller temples which catch your eye. For the perfect sunset, make your way to Phnom Bakeng. Remember, access to the viewing area up top closes at 05.30 PM.
