This was my second completely independent trip to China with this tour operator. I worked with Kyle Lee to organize the itineraries and book hotels, guides, internal trains, and more. This year, I chose to visit Chengdu and Chongqing, as well as some areas of interest near these two cities. I was originally supposed to travel with my daughter, but at the last moment, due to a knee issue, she decided not to come (especially since the trip included some hiking and physical effort). So, I embarked on this journey alone.
What can I say? Impeccable organization. Kyle is extremely helpful and exceptional at tailoring itineraries and travel experiences. He is attentive and present, with an incredible ability to craft trips that let you see exactly what you wanted – and even more. The guides were extraordinary. Diana, incredibly friendly and super communicative, managed to show me the most important parts of an immense city like Chongqing in just one day, while still giving me the space to explore certain places on my own when I needed it.
Andy, who assisted me with logistical transfers in Chengdu, accompanied me with charm, elegance, empathy, and a great sense of humor. Even though he was with me for a short time, he left a lasting impression. However, the highest praise goes to Rosa, my main guide in Chengdu, Leshan, and Mount Emei. Calling her a guide feels reductive – she was a friend, a travel companion, and like family. Tireless, incredibly knowledgeable, and always available. Seeing that I was traveling alone, she joined me for dinners and accompanied me well beyond her working hours. We went shopping together, talked with locals (thanks to her interpretation skills), and shared so much culturally, relationally, and personally. She welcomed me into her world, and I welcomed her into mine. I don’t think I’ve ever traveled with a guide so prepared, kind, and open, who introduced me not only to her country but also to such meaningful human connections.
If I could give 10 stars to this company, to Kyle, and to the amazing people I met, I absolutely would. Since I can only give 5 stars, I’ll do that instead – but I’m already thinking about traveling with them again next year!

In the morning, your English speaking tour guide and the driver will pick you up from the lobby of your hotel to start this Terracotta Warriors tour.
9:00 Drive to the Terracotta Army Museum
After gathering the group members, we will drive to the museum through highway directly, without any stopovers for tourist shops. It takes around one hour on the way, but you won't feel bored as your expert tour guide will give you a pre-knowledge of the cultural and historical background of the Terracotta Warriors.
10:00 Visit the Terracotta Army Museum
Accompanied by the guide, you will explore the Terracotta Army Museum by visiting the three excavated pits and the newly opened exhibition with many undisclosed collections. Although the clay warriors and horses have been buried for more than 2,200 years, they are still vivid with distinct appearances.
13:00 Free Time for Lunch
For lunch today, we leave it on your own to have more flexibilties. You may choose one to have a simple lunch, which usually costs around US$7 per person. Your guide is always ready to offer suggestions and assistance.
13:40 Drive back to downtown Xi'an
In about one hour, we reach the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda area. Over here your half day Xi’an Terracotta Warriors tour comes to the end. You may stay here till night to see the amazing night view, or if you want to get back to the hotel directly, your guide will show you the subway station here. We appreciate your time traveling with us!

We had a smooth and wonderful trip to China. Our guide really made the trip more than anything but the itinerary was very well put together with so much of such a huge country being covered in such a short time. I like free and easy trips. But for some local detailed arrangements related to itinerary/activities in various countries, it can be rather challenging. My trip to Yangtze River cruise and travel between Chongqing and Yichang involved details that I am not familiar. We, a family of three from New Zealand, enjoyed a trip to China in October this year. We have been preparing for this trip for 2 years. Before finding this tour operator, we also inquired with some local travel companies in New Zealand and China. After comparing, we found that the itineraries offered by New Zealand companies were relatively limited, and they required a minimum of 16 people to form a group. Therefore, we ultimately chose the 13-day group tour package with this operator. In our group, there are a total of three families, consisting of 6 people. The other members are from Germany and the United States. It was an amazing trip. Totally worth it.

Stop 1: Stele Forest 1.5h
Here, appreciate nationally-treasured ancient stone slabs carved with Chinese calligraphy and philosophies and listen to the story behind every stele. Your guide will also illustrate to you the architectural aesthetics, as the museum is housed in a carefully-designed temple that once worshiped Confucius.
Stop 2: Banpo Museum 2h
Then, let’s go far, far back to prehistoric China at Banpo Museum, which is based on the site of a typical matrilineal clan village from the Neolithic era of 6,000 years ago. There are also many potteries with the same motifs and with your guide’s explanation, you will see into the aesthetic taste and wild imagination of the Chinese ancestors.
Stop 3: Yongxingfang Food Street for Lunch Break 1.5h
At noon, we will take you to the Yongxingfang Food Street, literally “the lane of eternal prosperity”, and leave you a lunch break at your own expense.
Stop 4: Great Mosque 1.5h
We will then take a dip in the Muslim Bazaar and then escape the secular hustle and bustle to the Great Mosque. The mosque is not of the typical Islamic style you normally expect; instead, you will see a beautiful architectural complex reminiscent of classical traditional gardens with ornate carvings.
Last Stop: Bell Tower 1.5h
Go on to admire the Bell Tower that sits at the heart of Xian. As the Ming-era (1368 - 1644) heritage and the most magnificent of its kind in China, it radiates a pride among the modern landscape that beckons you to capture. We will also visit the interior and climb the tower to discover Chinese aesthetics through architectural details.
After the visit, you can either choose to be escorted back to your hotel or ask for insider advice from your guide on evening activities. Maybe linger awhile to see the Bell Tower lit all over in the evening. Take care!
