Hadrian's Wall is a UNESCO World Heritage site, is Britain's largest archaeological feature and was the northernmost limit of the Roman Empire. An immense feat of labour, the building of the wall started in AD122 during the reign of emperor Hadrian and took 6 years to complete. Three Roman legions completed the task of building a 73 mile long wall with 80 milecastle fortlets with two observation turrets between each one and then larger garrison forts every five miles or so along the wall.
This 5-night self-guided walk along Hadrian's Wall, from West to East, starts at Lanercost Priory and ends in Corbridge, taking in some of the best-preserved Roman sites in the UK. We've chosen this route direction so the prevailing winds (and any inclement weather!) are always at your back and the scenery in this direction is considerably better than the other way round.
Follow Hadrian's Wall Path across the rolling countryside and rugged moorland of Northumberland. The route passes the world-famous Sycamore Gap and over craggy hillsides, such as those of Walltown, Winshield and Sewingshields Crags.
You'll have the possibility of visiting some amazingly well-preserved sites including the Roman forts of Birdoswald, Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters. These sites offer a captivating journey into the history and significance of this iconic frontier and allow you to truly appreciate the engineering feat that marked the northernmost boundary of the Roman Empire. Wander through the ruins of a Roman fort, a turret, and a milecastle, each telling a unique story of life along the wall. Delve into the story of Hadrian's Wall through informative displays, artifacts, and interactive elements that bring the history of the Wall to life. Gain a deeper understanding of the strategic importance of this frontier and the lives of those who inhabited and defended it. You finish your route in the affluent and once-bustling Roman town of Corbridge.

I had a very well planned and arranged trip on the East Coast to Coast from Kirkby Stephen to Robin Hood's Bay. The accommodations arranged were comfortable, friendly, and well situated along the trail. The bag transport worked very well, as did the return transfer to Kirkby Stephen where my car was waiting. The advice on dining was right on and the maps, instructions, and attractions along the way were super. Well done!

We loved how quiet and well marked the trails were, along with the detailed trail descriptions provided. The small towns we visited were an unexpected treat as well. For a coastal walk, there was an amazing amount of variety from cliffs, to beach, and through fields. The ability to easily take a bus or tram from place to place if desired, was an added benefit. The accommodations were nice (especially those rooms with a sea side view!) and the people friendly.

In 2001, it gained UNESCO recognition as England's first Natural World Heritage Site charting 185 million years of the earth's history, with rocks and fossils dating to Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous times.
This 6-night Jurassic Coast walk is the perfect introduction to Dorset's wild and beautiful landscape, where the quietly rolling Purbeck Hills stand in stark contrast to the huge falcon patrolled chalk cliffs, and where every climb is rewarded with fantastic sweeping sea views. In the main, your route follows the coast-hugging long-distance South West Coast Path, pitching and swooping from one downland hollow to the next before a gentle descent into Lulworth Cove by way of the panoramic Burning Cliff and the world-famous rock-arch, Durdle Door. The 280-acre Durlston Country Park is a haven for wildlife (including rare red squirrels) and, with over 250 species of birds, is an ornithologist's paradise. On your final stretch of the Jurassic Coast walk, if you're lucky, you may spot bottlenose dolphins and playful seals emerging from the waves beyond Swanage where the procession of sculpted cliffs and towering chalk stacks known as Old Harry Rocks, marks the end of the Jurassic Coast.
As well as outstanding natural beauty, the region is also rich in archaeology with ancient forts and crumbling castles proudly guarding quintessential rural villages tucked into tranquil corners and crammed with traditional sandstone cottages, tempting tearooms and atmospheric old coaching inns serving great local food. The world famous Coast-to-Coast is an exhilarating long-distance walking route originally described by the writer Alfred Wainwright in his book of the same name. First published in 1973, the book has grown in renown and today is as popular as ever, with the walk itself featuring on the bucket list of all keen walkers.
At nearly 200 miles in length, the route takes you across country, up fells and down dales, from Cumbria's St Bees, on the shores of the Irish Sea, to the picturesque fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay in Yorkshire, passing fabulous landscapes at every turn.
The tour runs through three national parks in northern England - the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors - and features some of the most spectacular and beautiful scenery in the country.
The walking is challenging and recommended for experienced fell walkers and confident map readers only, but the sense of achievement and camaraderie when you encounter fellow coast to coasters makes it all worthwhile.

The Cotswolds is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that straddles 6 counties, an area of rolling hills on a bedrock of Jurassic limestone. The area was once renowned for its wool production, reminders of which you can still see today in the fine houses and 'wool' churches, built in the 15th and 16th Centuries by the local wool merchants.
This twin-centre cycling holiday allows you to visit some of the best of the North Cotswolds villages from your bases in the beautiful and historic villages of Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water. Cycling on quiet country roads you'll head to some of the best-known towns and villages of the area, as well as getting the chance to visit a wide range of sites and attractions, from Broadway Tower, the brainchild of Capability Brown to Sudeley Castle, last resting place of Katherine Parr, Henry VIII's sixth wife.
You'll stay in friendly, family run B&B's with a daily breakfast included; with a range of dining options on your doorstep, we've left other meals up to you.
We had a great experience on our trip in London. From there we did day trip excursions to various locations in England. These tours were are a bit rushed but overall very pleased. The only thing that was tricky was the tour does not bring us back to the original starting point that was walkable back to our hotel. It would be helpful to plan for this and the extra cost for the cab back to our hotel.
Also, one of the day tours was cancelled but they let us know right away and offered to reschedule. The Claremont hotel in London was fantastic.Location, concierge, breakfast bar and room were an A+ experience and would highly recommend. Michael was very available to help plan the trip and respond to my questions. I would use this tour company again in the future.
