Visit the eleventh century cathedral of Svetitskhoveli as well as Jvari Monastery, built 1,400 years ago. Enjoy Georgian dishes for lunch before driving back to Georgia's present-day capital city, Tbilisi, which has been a capital city for over 1,500 years now.
Explore both the old and the new districts of Tbilisi. Take a cable car to Narikhala Fortress and admire the view of the city from the top. We will drive you back to your accommodation in the evening.
Learn more about the history, culture, and lifestyle of the people of Kakheti and enjoy a day in this picturesque and lush part of East Georgia on this day trip to Kakheti.
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Kakheti province. Our first stop will be Bodbe monastery, located just 2 km from Signaghi. The monastery is a major pilgrimage site in Georgia due to its association with St. Nino, the 4th-century Georgian female evangelist, whose relics and shrine are there.
Next, we will Visit Signagi, an old trading town framed by a 17th-century defensive wall. The cobbled streets, terra cotta tile-roofed homes with colorful carved balconies, and the breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley give this town a very charming character. We’ll take a lunch break here in Sighnaghi at a local house.
After lunch, enjoy an excursion to the residence of Alexandre Chavchavadze, a 19th poet, public figure, and Kakheti nobleman. Afterward, walk in the unique English-French garden, famous for its varieties of blooming plants brought from abroad.
This Mtskheta, Gori and Uplistsikhe trip combines an exploration of Mtskheta, an ancient capital and religious center of Georgia, with the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Gori (the birthplace of the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin) and Uplistsikhe, once an enormous cave city and one of the most important political, religious, and cultural centers of pre-Christian Kartli.
We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning. Drive past the fertile lands of Kartli region. Travel past the ancient capital of Mtskheta. Visit Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin’s, and see his museum, which houses the items related to the dictator’s life.
Your next destination is the ancient town of Uplistsikhe, which dates back to the 6th century BC and is located approximately 20km east of the town Gori. The echoing halls, long, meandering corridors, chambers for pagan worship and even the remains of the oldest theatre in Georgia, all carved into the rocky plateau, are waiting to be explored by you.
Have lunch at a nearby restaurant after exploring Uplistsikhe. We will drive you back to your accommodation after the trip is over.
Enjoy a full-day private trip to Tbilisi and Mtskheta, which includes exploration of two ancient towns that are linked by religion, culture, and history. Each of them was the main city of Georgia at some point.
Mtskheta was the ancient capital of Georgia from the 4th-century BC to the 5th-century AD. This little town contains two UNESCO world heritage sites. Tbilisi holds more than 1500 years of history as the capital, and because of strategic and economic advantages has always been in the center of the battlefield during invasions. In the old city, you can feel the mix of multiethnic cosmopolitan traditions, which create the unforgettable charm of Tbilisi.
On the tour, we will pick you up from your hotel and drive to Mtskheta, which is located 25 km away to the west. Here we will visit Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari monastery, which represent the culmination of a number of artistic and architectural aspirations in early Christian architecture. In the middle of the tour, we will have lunch and taste typical Georgian dishes. After midday, we will drive back to Tbilisi and explore the old and new districts of the city. Ride up to Narikhala Fortress by the aerial cable car and admire the views of the city from the top. In the evening return back to the hotel.
Embark on a comprehensive day-long excursion to explore the area surrounding Mtskheta, which encompasses the Armaziskhevi archaeological site and the ancient Georgian kingdom's former capital, Mtskheta. The region's rich history is reflected in its monuments, including the Jvari Monastery, and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, all of which are recognized by UNESCO as excellent representations of medieval religious architecture in the Caucasus.
During the tour, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage of Georgia and witness the architectural marvels that have stood the test of time.
Enjoy your day!
At 9:00 in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel to begin your tour. Your first destination is the Jvari Monastery, located on a hilltop, offering a breathtaking panoramic view. This stone masterpiece of early Christian architecture serves as a perfect orientation point to the places you will visit. The Armaziskhevi excavation site, situated only 5 minute's drive from Mtskheta, showcases the area's settlement history from the Bronze and early Iron Ages, including stories of elitism, Roman and pre-Christian culture in the region. Conclude your day by visiting Svetitskhoveli in Mtskheta. Drive back to Tbilisi. End of the tour.
