The tents are equipped with mattresses and sleeping bags, there are toilet facilities in the campsite within all the parks. The 4 days tour typically start from/to Arusha but if you are flying into Tanzania then we have the option of picking you from the airport in Kilimanjaro and transferring you to Arusha and starting the tour the next day. You will be met at Kilimanjaro Airport by your guide, who will take you to a hotel in Arusha where you will check in and rest at the hotel. Your tour will end in Arusha, but if you are flying out the next day we will drop you back to Kilimanjaro International Airport from Arusha. A visit to the Ngorongoro Crater is an experience of a lifetime. There are few places that have wildlife densities and variety at this level. It is not unusual to see the Big Five in one day-and all this in the most amazing setting with a backdrop of the 600m/1968ft high crater wall. Lake Manyara National Park provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks. There is more to Serengeti than large mammals. Gaudy agama lizards and rock hyraxes scuffle around the surfaces of the park’s isolated granite koppies. A full 100 varieties of dung beetle have been recorded, as have 500-plus bird species, ranging from the outsized ostrich and bizarre secretary bird of the open grassland, to the black eagles that soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills.     Overall, great experience. Brian has been extremely helpful in tailoring the itinerary for the safari and has assisted us all along the process. Our guide, Henry, was always on time and truly did his best to show us all the possible animals within the visited parks. We've had nice lunches (with juice and wine) during the 7 days of Safari and the car was always sparkling clean in the morning when our guide was picking us up :) Our safari was followed by a beach holiday in Zanzibar : Brian has arranged a pick-up at the airport for us. The hotel (Z hotel in Nungwi) was also great and the honeymoon package made our holiday unforgettable. The safari is a magical experience everyone should have in a lifetime.

Here you will witness an amazing spectacle of African wildlife – inside a self-contained world teeming with animals. Your tour will also take you to the Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a shallow but huge soda lake, at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. Finally, head to Tarangire National Park, which features some of the greatest concentration of game in Tanzania – second only to the Ngorongoro Crater, but less crowded – and possesses a wild beauty. The camping safari is a rewarding experience because visitors feel like they’re participating in a real African adventure, but still have all the services of safari drivers, guides, and even a chef who will be preparing delicious fresh foods for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Travellers will have their tents assembled for them each evening and collapsed again in the morning by our staff, with the tents being packed away and stored on the vehicle for use again the following evening.

    This holiday delivered on every front. We saw so much wildlife and enjoyed the variety of parks and environments. We were very lucky in having a small group and this added to the enjoyment. The Tortilis camps are fabulous and on 2 occasions catered for only 4 guests eight 18 staff. The tents are wonderful and met all our needs. However our fellow guests did experience issues with hot water for their shower on several occasions but staff did endeavour to resolve the issue each time. Hamse, our guide, was great and also helped us arrange an air balloon trip over the Serengeti which enhanced the overall trip.
