It is also one of the most picturesque with a long beach, protected lagoon, and a sandbar at its southern end.
It was a great experience! Everything was planned and we just needed to enjoy the trekking. Our guide Binod was super nice and helpful and great at spreading good energy. It was a trip of a lifetime.
My whole team was so adaptable and kind. My guide Spring took me on incredible hiking and cultural journeys with his endless knowledge of history, Buddhism, architecture, animals and nature. Our driver Lahto was amazing at navigating the mountainous roads safely and confidently with added humor. The owner Tsenrig met me for dinner one night because I mentioned I wanted to try a lot of Bhutanese food. All the stops we made were so good and the accommodations were so nice with not a bad meal the whole trip. If you’re still on the fence, get this: I left my coat in a town 2 hours away and got it driven to me in 4 hours later so I didn’t leave without it on my early flight the next morning. Truly not a bad word can be said about this team and their team made my trip one of my favorite traveling experiences I’ve ever had.

From the moment Sam picked us up from the airport, nothing was too much trouble for him. if he could make your stay better he would. He offered advice and local knowledge but was never over the top. As a guide he was familiar with and had a real passion for his country. The weather was bad in the south of the country for our first week, so Aitken Spence changed our itinerary so we went northeast first and south the second week, meaning we missed the rain. The jungle experience was brilliant. Being surrounded by so much nature and wildlife was a lot of fun. Everyone in Sauraha was really friendly and welcoming. The hotel I stayed at was lovely, with delicious food and a comfortable, spacious room with a great shower. I didn't enjoy seeing so many captive elephants as they looked really sad but I was given the option to not go on the elephant ride so I got an extra jeep safari experience which I enjoyed. I really loved the canoe experience too.
