We had awesome trek to see Gurung community with the help of Sujan and the local operator. We managed historic hill trek to Siklis still retains an aura of old times. Historically, Siklis is renowned as one of the major origin places of Gurung Community. Here, we find the various ritual practices of Gurungs especially the works of Jhankri (shaman) and Lama (priest), who have important roles in marriage, death and day-to-day lives. Traditional technologies like alcohol fermentation, weaving clothes and sacks from the wild nettle, weaving various bamboo products, traditional water mills and stone grinders, wooden threshers etc are also the important features of Siklis. In this region we spot Nepals birds of prey including the 9ft wingspan Lammergeyer. The region is rich in flora and fauna particularly birds and butterfly because of its pristine forested surroundings and the great mountain views add an excitement. The experience was just awesome. Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is one of the major treks of the Langtang region, along with Helambu Trek and Langtang Circuit Trek. This trek offers you both a wealth of natural and cultural experiences. In addition to the panoramic views of several snow-topped mountains and spectacular alpine scenery, this trek’s major highlight is the holy lake of Gosainkunda.
The 9-day trek commences from Kathmandu, leading towards Syabrubesi from where the actual hiking starts. The trek then follows the Langtang valley heading up to the Langtang glacier and the Tibetan border to Langtang village. This narrow village settled between the Himalayan ranges to the north and south, provides a spectacular view of snow-capped peaks including Langtang Lurung, and Lanshisha Ri. Continuing from Langtang village, the trek continues to Kyangijn Gompa, Lama Hotel, Chandan Bari ultimately leading to the final destination of the trek, Gosainkunda Lake.
Gosainkunda Lake has a unique combination of natural beauty and cultural richness. It is a sacred lake for adherents of Hinduism and Buddhism. During the Janai Purnima (full moon festival) in August, thousands of pilgrims from Nepal, India and other Asian countries visit this holy lake to take a bath in the holy water, believing it will wash off all their sins. Gosainkunda Lake is believed to have formed from the digging of the land by trident of Lord Shiva to obtain water to quench the thirst after consuming poison.

The Everest Base Camp Trek, which served as a warm-up before climbing Lobuche East Peak, was an exciting and fulfilling experience in itself. The trek allowed us to gradually acclimatize to the altitude and enjoy stunning landscapes along the way. The climb to Kala Patthar provided a unique perspective, as we descended into the valley from EBC, further aiding our acclimatization process while marveling at the breathtaking scenery.
However, it was the climb to Lobuche East Peak that truly tested our limits. The steepness of the peak presented a challenge, but thanks to the expertise of our climbing guide, who skillfully fixed ropes and offered guidance, we were able to conquer it without too much difficulty. The sense of achievement upon reaching the top was immeasurable and made all the hard work worthwhile.
